The Mahindra XUV500 is the predecessor of Mahindra XUV700 and one of the most successful cars in India. The 4,585 mm length, 1,890 mm width, 1,785 mm height, and the wheelbase of 2,700 mm give the Mahindra XUV500 a big beefy road presence and make it a significantly spacious 7-seater. The engine options of Mahindra XUV500 include a 2.2 litre diesel engine and 2.2 litre petrol engine, both with an ARAI certified mileage of 16 kmpl. Both engines come coupled with a 6-speed torque converter automatic, However, only the diesel engine has an optional 6-speed manual and an AWD.The Mahindra XUV500 takes care of passenger safety with a formidable endoskeleton and a slew of safety features like up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP with rollover mitigation, hill hold and hill descent control among others. Moreover, to provide a premium ride experience the Indian SUV packs a host of upmarket features like 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6-speaker Arkamys sound system, single-pane sunroof, powered driver’s seat, and others.The launch of Mahindra XUV500 in 2011 had taken the market by storm so much so that Mahindra initially had to halt bookings for a while and operate on a lottery system for deliveries. Over the years the Mahindra XUV500 got a couple of updates, the first facelift was in 2015, the second facelift happened in 2018, and then finally got succeeded by Mahindra XUV700 in 2011.
