Verdict

The Punch now has much more choice than before. The normal petrol should be enough for someone who mostly drives around the city, while the turbo is better if performance is important. CNG takes care of buyers looking for lower running costs and the new CNG AMT makes it easier to drive in traffic. Space for four adults is good and even the middle rear seat is usable for shorter trips. Some of the top variants have become expensive though, and the normal petrol engine still feels average once you get out on the highway.

Who should buy a Tata Punch

Bad roads are one area where the Punch does quite well. The suspension doesn't feel too soft and the ground clearance is enough for most rough patches and speed breakers. Getting inside is also easy because of the wide-opening doors and high seats, something older people in the family may appreciate. The 2026 update has also added more engine and gearbox choices. Someone doing a lot of city kilometres can look at the CNG AMT, while the turbo-petrol is the one to check if the regular engine feels too slow.
