Hyundai Tucson Specifications
Tucson came in Platinum and Signature variants. Both petrol and diesel engines were available. If you wanted four-wheel drive, that was only offered with the Signature diesel. All versions were automatic. There are quite a few feature differences between Platinum and Signature, so check the variant name when looking at a used Tucson.
1. Engine & Transmission Options
The 1999 cc four-cylinder petrol makes 156 PS and 192 Nm. A 6-speed automatic transmission is used with this engine. Diesel has a 1997 cc four-cylinder engine producing 186 PS and 416 Nm and gets an 8-speed automatic transmission. Most Tucson variants were front-wheel drive. HTRAC four-wheel drive was available with the Signature diesel.
2. Interior & Comfort
Tucson has five seats and there is no third row. The rear seat gets a reclining backrest and can be folded in a 60:40 split. You also get rear AC vents, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof and a powered driver's seat. Signature adds things like ventilated and heated front seats and electric adjustment for the passenger seat. A powered tailgate was also available.
3. Mileage & Performance
Hyundai's final India brochure does not give an official ARAI mileage number for the Tucson, so no official figure is given here. The petrol has 192 Nm of torque and the diesel has 416 Nm. Because of this, the diesel feels much quicker when overtaking or when the car is full of passengers. Mileage in actual use will change with traffic, road conditions and how the car is driven.
4. Safety Features
Tucson had six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, hill-start assist, downhill brake control and tyre pressure monitoring. The Signature added Hyundai SmartSense ADAS. It also had a surround-view monitor and blind-spot view monitor. ISOFIX mounts were provided on the rear seats.
5. Hyundai Tucson Dimensions & Boot Space
The Tucson measures 4630 mm in length and is 1865 mm wide, so it is not a small SUV. There is good room in the back and the 2755 mm wheelbase helps with rear-seat space. More details are mentioned below:

The boot space is 540 litres and is large enough for regular family luggage. The rear seats can also be folded when you need more space.
