Toyota Etios is a sedan that is built for comfort and smooth-ride quality. The fuel tank capacity is 45 litres and mileage is also quite decent. The power delivery is linear but you cannot expect a power-packed performance from either of the engines. The petrol variants offer a slightly better power output of 90 bhp and a torque of 132 Nm. The diesel variants offer a power output of around 67 bhp and a torque of 170 Nm. It falls in the mid-size sedan category and delivers good comfort in most road conditions.
Toyota Etios comes with 1.5-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engine options. Both are 4-cylinder engines and offer a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol variants feel more punchy than the diesel ones. The diesel engine is lag-free and offers smooth gear shifts.
The petrol engine offers a mileage of up to 17 kmpl whereas the diesel engine offers a mileage of up to 24 kmpl. These are claimed figures and the real-world mileage depends on road conditions, driving style, overall condition of the vehicle, and many other factors. The performance of Etios is great leaving no room for complaints when it comes to ride-quality and comfort.
The interior layout and design of Etios is not extraordinary but it doesn’t feel cheap either. The seating arrangement is good with plenty of lumbar and under-thigh support. The legroom and headroom are sufficient enough to provide the required comfort during long trips.
Dual airbags are offered as a standard. ABS, EBD, and other essential safety features are included in all the variants. The body structure is durable and proves to be worthy of long term use. The cabin has remained safe during crash tests which has earned it a 4-star safety rating from GNCAP. However, the latest safety features such as ADAS are missing in this car.
