Maruti Suzuki Ignis is a small city hatchback known for its quirky style and efficiency. However, its crash test results have been disappointing. Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) was introduced in India to test cars to safer standards on the same calibre as Global NCAP. However, the Maruti Ignis is yet to be tested according to Bharat NCAP. Its current ratings are based on the December 2022 tests provided by Global NCAP using the new protocols.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis Child Occupant Protection Rating

The Ignis scored (3.86) out of 49 on child safety, which includes 0 in the dynamic crash test and the vehicle assessment. All scores were based on the CRS installation evaluation.

That is, the dummy seats were correctly installed (score 3.86/12), but the car did not provide any credit in terms of dynamic crash protection.

Frontal Test Findings

  • The ISOFIX child seats (18-month- and 3-year-old) avoided head exposure
  • Good protection for the head and neck

  • Three-point belt only in rear outboard seats

Airbags

The driver and the passenger have dual front airbags. The new 2025 Ignis includes side/curtain airbags on the top Alpha model, giving a total of six airbags.

Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) with EBD
