Volkswagen has unveiled the first facelift of the Volkswagen Taigun mid-size SUV. The facelifted Taigun comes with several design updates, some added features, and a small change in its powertrains. Here is a closer look at the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Dimensions and Design
The new Volkswagen Taigun is 4,221 mm long, 1,760 mm wide, 1,612 mm tall, and has a 2,651 mm long wheelbase. So, dimensionally, there have been no changes.
While the overall design of the new Taigun is the same as that of the current model, there are a few design updates. The new Taigun’s face is heavily inspired by Volkswagen’s flagship Tayron R-Line SUV; therefore, it features an illuminated Volkswagen logo and new sleek headlamps connected by a light bar. In addition to a new, slimmer grille section, the new Taigun gets a redesigned bumper with horizontal slats instead of the honeycomb pattern that is there on the outgoing model. There is almost no change in the side profile, except for a new design for the 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the new Taigun features an illuminated logo, new LED tail-lamps with sequential turn indicators, and a revised bumper.
In terms of exterior paint options, the Taigun facelift is available in new Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey colours, in addition to Wild Cherry Red, Lava Blue, Candy White, Deep Black, Reflex Silver, and Carbon Steel, which have always been on offer.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Interior and Features
On the inside, the new Taigun features the same dashboard as the outgoing model. However, there are several updated trims and a new dual-tone colour theme with six different upholstery options, depending on the variant. Moreover, there is a new, larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an updated 10.1-inch infotainment system housing the latest software with updated graphics and AI-based integration, offering access to real-time information, improved voice-based controls, and hands-free operation for many functions.
In terms of features, the Taigun facelift offers pretty much the same package as the outgoing model. However, a key addition to its feature list is the panoramic sunroof. Other features include 6-way powered front seats with ventilation, automatic climate control, a wireless charger, and more.
For safety equipment, the new Taigun offers six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, electronic differential lock, ISOFIX child seat mounts, an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror (IRVM), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), front and rear parking sensors, rear-view camera, all-wheel disc brakes, and more.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Engine and Transmission
The new Taigun offers the same engines as the outgoing model: a 1-litre turbo petrol engine, which produces 115 PS power and 178 Nm peak torque, and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which produces 150 PS power and 250 Nm peak torque. The 1-litre turbo petrol engine is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a new 8-speed torque converter automatic instead of the 6-speed torque converter that the outgoing model offers. Whereas the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine continues to be offered with a 7-speed DCT automatic.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Price and Rivals
The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to be priced at Rs. 10.60 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, and it will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, and Maruti Victoris.
