MG has launched the MG Majestor SUV at a starting price of Rs. 40.99 lakh. The Majestor is MG’s flagship ICE-powered SUV and will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner. As a more premium and stronger alternative to the MG Gloster, the Majestor comes with a bolder design and a host of upmarket features; however, the same diesel engine that powers the Gloster. Here is what the MG’s new Toyota Fortuner rival has to offer.

MG Majestor: Design and Dimensions

The MG Majestor is 5,046 mm long, 2,016 mm wide, 1,870 mm tall, and has a 2,950 mm long wheelbase. With such dimensions, the Majestor is the largest car in the segment, which also houses the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, and Skoda Kodiaq.

While the MG Majestor shares its ladder-frame chassis with the MG Gloster, it has a more dominant design. Up front, the Majestor features a massive blacked-out grille, an aggressive split headlamp setup of sleek LED DRLs vertically stacked lower down on the bumper, and a tough-looking bumper with a massive segmented skid plate. Above the grille sits bold ‘MORRIS GARAGES’ lettering. Over to the side, the Majestor looks a lot like the Gloster; however, it is longer and has new 19-inch alloy wheels, chunkier all-terrain tyres, unique mouldings behind the front wheel arches, and more sculpted body cladding. At the rear, the Majestor features connected LED tail lamps, ‘MORRIS GARAGES’ lettering on a black strip underlining the rear windshield, bold ‘MAJESTOR’ lettering on the lower section of the flat tailgate, twin exhausts, vertical reflectors, and a dual-tone bumper with thick black cladding.

The MG Majestor is available in four colour options: Pearl White, Concrete Grey, Black Metal, and Black Ash.

MG Majestor: Interior and Features

On the inside, the Majestor gets an all-black interior theme with the grey elements on the layered dashboard. The dashboard sports a free-standing touchscreen infotainment with rectangular AC vents below it, while the vents on the edges are pentagonal. Moreover, MG has kept plenty of physical buttons and toggle switches for most controls, including AC and media. Meanwhile, the three-spoke steering has been borrowed from the MG Gloster, and MG has generously used the soft-touch material to make the cabin feel premium. The Majestor is available in 6- and 7-seater versions. The 6-seater version gets captain seats in the middle row, while the 7-seater version has a bench seat in the middle.

In terms of features, the Majestor offers a 12.3-inch infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, connected car tech, 12-way powered and ventilated front seats with massage function, massaging and ventilated middle-row seats (6-seater version), 3-zone climate control, two wireless phone chargers, three drive modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, a DPF alert and clearance system, a panoramic sunroof, an air purifier, a powered tailgate, and multi-colour ambient lighting.

For safety equipment, the Majestor packs 6 airbags, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold assist (HHA), a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS safety suite.

For off-roading, the Majestor features a 4-wheel-drive setup, 10 off-road modes, an 810 mm water-wading depth, and triple differential locks.

MG Majestor: Engine and Transmission

The Majestor is powered by the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, which powers the MG Gloster. With the ability to produce 215 PS of power and 479 Nm of peak torque, this engine is mated to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic.

It is worth noting that the MG Majestor is not available with a petrol engine and manual transmission.
