Maruti Suzuki Dzire NCAP Rating for Adult Occupant Protection

The Dzire performed well in the adult occupant protection category and scored 13.239 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 16.00 points in the side movable deformable barrier test.

Frontal Impact Test (64 km/h):

• The driver’s chest protection was ‘marginal,’ while it was ‘adequate’ for the passenger.
• The knee and head protection for both the driver and passenger was ‘good,’ which shows strong structural integrity.
• The tibias were ‘adequate’ in protection, further indicating the car’s strong frontal impact resistance.

Side Impact Test (50 km/h):

• The dummies’ head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis received ‘good’ protection.

Side Pole Impact Test:

• The head, abdomen, and pelvis protection were rated as ‘good,’ while the chest protection was ‘marginal.’
• The overall stability of the bodyshell and footwell area contributed to the vehicle’s performance in these tests, making the cabin safer for the occupants in case of a collision.

Structural Integrity: A Major Highlight

One of the highlights of Dzire’s performance was its stable bodyshell, which implies that adding loadings does not significantly deform the car. This is the most critical factor in mitigating injuries during high-energy impacts.

Frontal Impact Test (64 km/h):

• The 3-year-old dummy was in a forward-facing CRS, which provided full protection to the head and chest, but could have offered better protection to the neck.
• The 18-month-old dummy was in a rearward-facing CRS, which prevented the head from being exposed and offered full protection.

Side Impact Test (50 km/h):

• Both child seats of the dummies provided full protection. The head and body did not make contact with the car interior.
