Hyundai has begun selling the Hyundai Creta Electric under a BaaS scheme, making the electric SUV much more affordable. Under the BaaS scheme, the Hyundai Creta starts at Rs. 10.99 lakh, with a battery subscription of Rs. 3.90/km. While the Hyundai Creta Electric is a capable electric SUV with a long list of premium features and efficient battery packs, its availability with the BaaS scheme will give it a serious advantage, especially considering its rivals, MG ZS EV, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, and Maruti e Vitara, which are already available with BaaS. All the same, Hyundai has not revealed full variant-wise BaaS prices of the Creta Electric.
JSW MG Motor introduced the BaaS scheme with the MG Windsor EV in 2024. From then on, many other carmakers, such as Tata Motors, Kia, Toyota, and Maruti Suzuki, have joined the bandwagon. Hyundai is the latest to offer a BaaS scheme, while Mahindra and VinFast are the only carmakers not to offer BaaS.
Hyundai Creta Electric with BaaS: Key Updates
The Creta Electric range is priced from Rs 18.03 lakh to Rs 24.70 lakh (ex-showroom), which means BaaS effectively reduces the entry price by about Rs 7 lakh. Customers will have to pay an additional cost, based on their usage, making it more like an EMI on the battery.
The standard ex-showroom price of the Hyundai Creta Electric is Rs. 18.03 to Rs. 24.70 lakh. With BaaS, the upfront price of the electric SUV is reduced by Rs. 7.04 lakh. Meanwhile, the battery subscription charge is Rs. 3.90/km.
However, as is the case with the BaaS scheme, Hyundai will charge a minimum monthly payment as Battery EMI, which will depend on the number of kilometres the brand considers as the minimum monthly running of a user. For example, Maruti Suzuki charges a minimum monthly fee for 1,800 km. If Hyundai charges the same number of kilometres, the battery EMI for the Hyundai Creta Electric with BaaS will be around Rs. 3.90 X 1,500 = Rs. 5,850. Moreover, the battery EMI will depend on the loan you get on the battery.
In addition to introducing it BaaS, Hyundai has slightly updated the Creta Electric, adding an integrated side step for easier ingress and egress. Moreover, the brand is now offering an additional 7.4kW AC wall box charger with the Creta Electric HC variants. Previously, all variants were available only with an 11kW AC charger.
Hyundai Creta Electric with BaaS: Battery and Range
The Hyundai Creta Electric is offered with two battery packs: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, with claimed ranges of 420 km and 510 km, respectively. The SUV is powered by a front-axle-mounted motor, which produces 135 PS with the smaller 42 kWh battery, and 171 PS with the larger 51.4 kWh battery. The torque produced is 200 Nm with both battery packs.
The Hyundai Creta Electric competes with the MG ZS EV, Maruti e-Vitara, Toyota Ebella, Tata Sierra EV, and Mahindra BE 6.
