Maruti Victoris and Hyundai Creta belong to the mid-size SUV category. Maruti Victoris is one of the newer cars in the lineup of Maruti SUVs and was launched in 2025. Creta was first launched in 2015 and today, we are seeing the 2nd generation Creta models that are available with the 1.5-litre Naturally Aspirated (NA) engine, 1.5-litre Turbo Petrol engine, and 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Victoris is available with 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine, 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine, and 1.5-litre petrol + CNG option. The strong hybrid variants of Victoris offer the best mileage of up to 28.65 km/l whereas the diesel variants of Hyundai Creta offer the best mileage of up to 21.8 km/l in their lineup. Therefore, Victoris seems to have a clear advantage over Creta when it comes to fuel-efficiency. However, these are just the claimed mileage figures and their actual mileage might vary in real-world conditions. In this blog, we will see how the real-world mileage of these cars compare against each other.

The real difference-maker in their mileage is the strong hybrid powertrain that enables the car to start and drive in electric mode. Creta models have the clear advantage over the Victoris models when it comes to power and torque. However, the strong hybrid variants of Victoris can be compared to the diesel variants of Creta in terms of power. Maruti Victoris vs Hyundai Creta : ARAI Mileage Figures

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) conducts tests for measuring the mileage of cars. These tests are conducted in a controlled manner in the lab-conditions that are ideal for driving. Also, the vehicles are driven with minimum load of passengers to get the optimal mileage figures. The below table highlights how the ARAI mileage figures of Maruti Victors vs Hyundai Creta stand against each other:

Engine & Transmission Fuel Type Maruti Victoris – ARAI Mileage (km/l or km/kg)Hyundai Creta – ARAI Mileage (km/l)

1.5L CRDi – 6AT (Automatic)Diesel 19.1 km/l

There is no comparison between the claimed ARAI mileage of Maruti Victoris and Hyundai Creta petrol models as Victoris wins with a clear margin. This is because Maruti Victoris comes with both strong hybrid and mild hybrid powertrains. The mileage of even mild hybrid variants are comparable to the mileage offered by the diesel variants of Creta. Also, the CNG option in Victoris gives it a major advantage of low-cost running which is missing in Creta’s line-up.

For the sake of comparison, we have compared the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine of Creta with the 1.5-litre NA petrol+mild hybrid engine of Victoris. Here, Victoris offers up to 150 km higher range than the Creta models. When we compare the 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine of Victoris with the turbo petrol engine of Creta, the range extends up to 600 km which is a huge difference. We cannot compare the real-world mileage of these cars in the CNG and diesel departments as the diesel engine is missing in Victoris’s lineup and CNG variants are missing in Creta’s lineup. Overall, Victoris has a clear advantage over Creta when it comes to fuel-economy. Yet, if you want a dependable car for long highway running, the diesel variants of Creta offer a great balance of power, performance, and fuel-efficiency.

The diesel variants attract the lowest fuel costs in the lineup of Creta cars. When we compare these cars, the real-world mileage of Victoris cars is quite close to the claimed mileage. Also, as they are more fuel-efficient than Creta variants, you can easily prefer the strong hybrid or CNG variants of Victoris for city driving. For overall better experience, performance, and fuel-efficiency on the highways, you can prefer the diesel variants of Creta.
