At the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, Tata has displayed the much-awaited Tata Curvv mid-size SUV. For a long time, Tata has been drip-feeding information about its latest SUV and had even revealed the pre-production model at the Auto Expo 2023. The Curvv will be the first all-new product this year from the Indian carmaker and is expected to go on sale in the coming months. Here is everything you need to know about the Tata Curvv.
Tata Curvv: Dimensions and Design
The Tata Curvv is 4,308 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, 1,630 mm tall and has a 2,560 mm long wheelbase and a 422-litre boot space. From what it looks like, Tata Curvv’s design is going to be the biggest challenge for rival manufacturers, as the all-new Indian SUV looks stunning and game-changing. Along with sleek front fascia, the Curvv has a unique coupe-like roofline, while all other cars in the segment have a relatively boxy shape such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, and others. At the front, there is an LED light bar that stretches across the width, like the one seen on other Tata cars. The grille features metallic embroidery with a piano black finish. In addition to the main air intake at the bottom that is latticed with parametric design, there is an additional air vent between the grille and the license plate, while the headlamp and fog lamp housing look similar to that of the Harrier and Safari.
The side profile highlights the all-new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, door-mounted wing mirrors, and flush door handles making it the first Tata car to feature such a door-handle setup. At the back, an LED bar runs across the width alongside a piano black slat. Moreover, the chunky bumper gets a piano black finish and houses additional reflectors.
Tata Curvv: Interior and Features
On the inside, Tata Curvv is expected to feature a pair of 10.25-inch screens for the touchscreen infotainment and the digital instrument cluster. Moreover, it might carry the HVAC panel from the Nexon facelift and pack a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, JBL speakers, and an air purifier.
Tata Curvv: Engine and Transmission
In a bid to rival the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV Tata will launch the electric version of the Curvv SUV first. In the ICE version, the Tata Curvv is likely to be equipped with Nexon’s 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine and 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. Moreover, Tata will also bring the Curvv SUV in CNG-powered variants and the transmission options are going to be a manual transmission, AMT automatic, or DCT automatic, depending on the variant.
Tata Curvv: Launch and Rivals
As mentioned, Tata will launch the Curvv EV first. For both ICE and EV versions, Tata has set an annual sales target of around 48,000 units that will include 12,000 units of the EV version. With a head-turning design, the Tata Curvv will set off ripples in the hotly-contested mid-size segment that already consists of eight contenders.
