With unmatchable safety, stylish designs, and premium comfort, Tata cars have earned Tata Motors massive popularity in recent years. Today, Tata stands among the industry leaders and has a wide array of capable cars in its inventory. The Indian carmaker managed to sell 46,437 units, which translated into a 9 percent decline in its year-on-year sales. Here are the top selling Tata cars in February 2025.

Tata Nexon

After a long time, the Tata Nexon regained the title of the best-selling Tata car with sales of 15,349 units in February 2025, which gave it a 7 percent year-on-year growth in sales. Launched in 2017, the Nexon has sold over 7 lakh units so far. Undisputedly, it is one of the blockbuster cars of this era and a mighty force in the phenomenon which reestablished Tata as one of the leaders of the Indian car market. What worked in Nexon’s favour is a combination of multiple traits that Indians want in an ideal family car. For starters, the Nexon offers a tough body, ensuring solid safety for all the passengers that it carries. Moreover, it packs premium interiors and features and delivers segment-leading ride comfort. All this with a striking design, makes the Nexon a compelling proposition as a premium compact SUV and helps it deliver an appealing value for its asking price.
In terms of mechanicals, the Nexon is available in petrol-powered, diesel-powered, electric-powered, and CNG-powered variants. In ICE models, the Nexon offers two engines: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. Both engines come paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AMT. Moreover, there is an optional 6-speed DCT automatic mated to the turbo petrol engine. The Tata Nexon EV comes with two battery packs. The 30 kWh battery pack offers a range of 325 km while the 40.5 kWh battery pack offers a range of 465 km.
Tata Punch

While the Tata Punch lost the top position to the Nexon this time, it usually is the owner of the title – ‘the best-selling Tata car.’ Like the Nexon, the Punch has been one of the mega hits in the Indian car market. As a matter of fact, in 2024, the Punch broke Maruti’s 40-year-long streak by becoming the best-selling car of the year. The main attraction of Punch lies in a good mix of distinct characteristics such as the muscular design, taller seating position, and a premium cabin that replicates the cabin of a full-size SUV. Moreover, with the growing demand for safer cars, the 5-star G-NCAP safety rating makes the Tata Punch even more appealing and one of the safest cars in India. To compete with the Tata Punch, Hyundai and Maruti launched Exter and Fronx respectively. Nonetheless, the Punch is still doing great business. Last month, the Indian compact SUV sold 14,559 units. While this was a 21 percent decline, the Punch is the second-best-selling Tata car and one of the best-selling cars.
Like the Tiago and Tigor, Punch is available in petrol-powered, CNG-powered, and electric-powered avatars. The ICE variants come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The Tata Punch EV is available with a 25 kWh battery and a 35 kWh battery that offer ranges of 315 km and 421 km respectively.

Tata Tiago

Tata Tiago is a special car for the Indian carmaker as this popular hatchback spearheaded the rise of Tata after a long time. The Tata Tiago’s appeal starts with the segment-best safety and the Indian hatchback offers the reassurance that even though you are in a small car you have a strong cocoon protecting you in case of an unfortunate accident. Moreover, the stylish looks and the premium comfort expected of Tata, have made the Tata Tiago one of the best-selling hatchbacks in India. What also favours Tiago is the fact that it is the only hatchback in India to be available in petrol-powered, CNG-powered, and electric-powered variants. Last month, the Tata Tiago sold 6,954 units, seeing almost negligible growth in year-on-year sales and maintaining its position as the third-best-selling Tata car.
The powertrain options of the Tata Tiago consist of a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The CNG variants come with only manual transmission and can run 26.49 km/kg, while the Tiago EV comes with two battery options: a 19.2 kWh battery pack and a 24 kWh battery pack that have claimed ranges of 250 km and 315 km respectively.

Tata Altroz

In February 2025, Tata Altroz sold 1,604 units, which was a 65 percent decline from the 4,568 units it sold during the same month in 2024. Tata Altoz has seen better days in the Indian market, but the ever-growing demand for compact SUVs is taking a big toll on hatchbacks. Like most hatchbacks, the Altroz is not selling as well as it used to, but that does not make it a poor car. The stylish Indian hatchback is an exemplary package in many ways. It is stylish, drives well, and delivers class-leading comfort, and all this comes with a strong construction which has earned it a full 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crashworthiness test.
The Altroz has two engines on offer: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard; however, the petrol engine also comes with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Additionally, the Altroz is also available in CNG-powered variants that deliver a mileage of 26.2 km/kg. Tata Safari

The flagship of the Indian carmaker, Tata Safari is one of the best seven-seater cars available in the Indian automobile market. The prime reason behind Tata’s masterclass space management as the Safari is one of the few seven-seater SUVs which can comfortably accommodate all seven passengers, especially in the last row. In addition to that, Safari is well-laden with upmarket features to deliver the premium experience one expects of a car of its price tag. A package of ample space and features becomes even more attractive with a full 5-star rating the Safari bagged in the Global NCAP safety test. As far as sales are concerned, the Safari does a decent business which has its limit of not being available in petrol-powered variants. Last month, the Safari sales saw a 41 percent year-on-year decline as the Indian SUV sold 1,562 units.
Being the 7-seater derivative of the Harrier, the Tata Safari shares its powertrains with its and therefore comes equipped with a 2-litre diesel engine mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Tata Tigor

The term ‘underrated’ is what best suits the Tata Tigor. Despite being capable of meeting most needs of an average Indian buyer, this Indian compact sedan did not attain the success it deserved. The Tigor is doing business away from the limelight and in February 2025, it collected sales of 1,550 units, which is a 9 percent decline in its year-on-year performance. While being one of the safest cars in its segment with a 4-star G-NCAP rating, the Tata Tigor offers an immaculate cabin that is high on comfort and features everything needed to provide an entertaining ride.
In terms of powertrains, Tigor is the only car in its segment to be available in petrol-powered, CNG-powered, and electric variants. For ICE variants, Tigor comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT. Its CNG variants are mated to either a manual transmission or AMT, while the Tigor EV comes with a 26 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 315 km.
Tata Harrier

The Tata Harrier is one of the best cars under Rs. 30 lakh. Its charm starts from its majestic looks which can turn heads of even those who have little to no interest in cars. Then, its cabin is as large as that of its seven-seater derivative, Tata Safari and this speaks volumes about the acres of space the Harrier offers for five occupants. Moreover, like the Safari, the Tata Harrier is rated 5-star by the Global NCAP, features the ADAS safety suite, and is one of the safest cars in India. All of this comes to make Harrier fiercely compete with rivals like MG Hector, Mahindra XUV700, and Jeep Compass. The previous month, the Tata Harrier sold 1,376 units, which is 46 percent less than the sales it did in the same month last year.
Tata Harrier is available with a 2-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Tata to be the Indian king soon.
