In the real world, the mileage is affected by factors such as wind, rain, road conditions, traffic on the road, driving style, etc., which can lead to a much reduced figure than what is seen with the ARAI ratings. It can also be different in the city and on highways. Here is a quick comparison of the mileage delivered by the petrol, diesel, and CNG variants of Tata Punch and Hyundai Venue.

FAQs About Tata Punch vs Hyundai Venue Real-World Mileage Comparison

  1. Q. Which car is more fuel-efficient in stop-and-go traffic in the city, Punch or Venue?

The Tata Punch CNG variant is more fuel efficient in the heavy city traffic. The next best option in this condition is the Punch 1.2L petrol variant that is more compatible for urban driving. Although the Venue also has a similar petrol variant, it is not as efficient as the Punch. The diesel variant of the Venue is more compatible for highway driving than in the city.

  2. Q. Does the automatic transmission deliver a lower real-word fuel efficiency for Punch and Venue?

It is not necessary that the lower fuel efficiency is due to the automatic transmission. When you compare Punch and Venue, there are different automatic transmissions for each SUV. The AMT variant of Tata Punch usually has a lower mileage than the manual transmission. Similarly, the 7-speed DCT in the Venue consumes more fuel than the manual transmission. However, the automatic diesel variant of the Venue can still deliver a better mileage than its petrol variants. If you are choosing an automatic, the Venue diesel automatic will be a better option. There is no automatic transmission available with the Tata Punch CNG.

  3. Q. Does having full occupancy affect the mileage of Tata Punch and Hyundai Venue?

Yes, full occupancy and heavy load usually reduce fuel efficiency for both Punch and Venue. The petrol variants see a significant decline in mileage than the CNG variants for the Punch. In the case of Venue, both diesel and petrol variants suffer from lower fuel efficiency when there is heavy load and the seats are all occupied.

  4. Q. Which is more suitable for those with high monthly driving?

For a frequent traveler with more distance covered every month, the Tata Punch CNG is the best option. It has the least monthly and yearly expenses when compared with all variants of Hyundai Venue. If you want a non-CNG option, choose the Venue diesel variant which is highly economical than the petrol variants of either car.

  5. Q. Which SUV has consistent mileage across different driving conditions?

For Hyundai Venue, the fuel efficiency varies with the fuel type, engine type, and the transmission chosen. However, if you need to pick one, pick the diesel variant which has more consistency than its other variants. For real economy, the Tata Punch CNG is the best choice for both the city and highway driving. The Tata Punch petrol variants have a more predictable mileage in the city and highways but its fuel cost can be much higher. The Punch CNG has a higher mileage and lower fuel cost.
