As of now, the MG Windsor EV has not received any official safety rating from either Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP. However, the electric SUV does come equipped with a wide range of active and passive safety features, which we will explore in detail below.

Read on to find out everything about the MG Windsor EV’s safety ratings and features!

MG Windsor EV NCAP Safety Rating

Used Windsor EV Cars

As of now, the MG Windsor EV Safety has not been tested by the Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP. So, no official rating is available.

MG Windsor EV Adult Occupant Protection Rating

The MG Windsor EV safety has not been rated by the Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP under the Adult Occupant Protection Category.

Since the vehicle has not been tested, the following information is not available:

  • Bodyshell Integrity (stable/unstable)
  • Frontal Offset Crash
  • Side Impact Protection
  • Door Opening during Impact
  • Airbag Deployment

However, the specification of six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) shows that MG has given due consideration to safety engineering of Windsor EV Safety. An official crash test result will provide more clarity on its structural strength and real-world crashworthiness.

MG Windsor EV Child Occupant Protection Rating

Likewise, the MG Windsor EV safety has not been tested by Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP for the Child Occupant Protection category.

Therefore, the following rating details are not available:

  • Dynamic score (crash test performance using child occupants)

  • Overall Child Occupant Protection rating

However, the MG EV Windsor comes with ISOFIX child seat mounting, child safety locks, and rear middle three-point seat belts, which are very important for child safety.

MG Windsor EV Safety Features

Although not crash tested by Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP, the MG Windsor EV comes with a wide range of safety features standard across all variants:

  • 6 Airbags: The car offers six airbags to give the occupants a higher level of protection in the event of a crash.
  • Rear Parking Sensors: These sensors assist the driver in parking by detecting objects behind the car.
  • Tyre Pressure Warning System: Monitors the tyre pressure of the car and alerts the driver if the pressure falls below the recommended level.
  • Electronic Parking Brake: Replaces the traditional handbrake with an electronic parking brake, adding to safety and ease of use.
  • Hill Hold Control: Prevents the car from rolling backwards when starting to drive from an inclined position.
  • Hill Descent Control: Maintains a constant speed when driving down a hill.
  • ISOFIX Mounts: Provides dedicated mounting points to securely fix child seats in the rear seats.
  • Rain-Sensing Wipers: Automatically detect rain falling on the windshield of the car.
  • All Four Disc Brakes: Provides disc brakes to all the wheels of the car, which enables better braking.

In addition, the car model comes with a 360-degree camera and a rear defogger in higher variants, but it does not include a rear wiper or washer in any variant.

Level-2 ADAS (In Essence Pro Variant Only)

The MG Windsor EV comes with Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, available only in the car’s Essence Pro variant. Here are the key features:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control: Automatically maintains a constant speed as well as a safe distance from the vehicle in front during highway driving.
  • Lane Departure Assist: Automatically detects if the car drifts from the lane and alerts the driver to take the required action.
  • Auto Emergency Braking: It monitors the traffic conditions on the road and applies the brakes if there is a potential threat of a collision.

Although the ADAS package improves vehicle safety, it lacks blind-spot detection or monitoring. The ADAS functions can be deactivated, though this must be done through the infotainment system interface.

Summary

The MG Windsor EV is a feature-loaded and highly tech-savvy electric vehicle that is focused on providing the best in comfort, features, and practicality. As of now, it does not have an official crash test rating from Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP.

Although the car comes with six airbags, ESP, ISOFIX mounts, and Level-2 ADAS in higher variants, an official crash test rating would give a better idea of the car’s structural integrity.

If the safety ratings are a major criterion in choosing a car, it would be better to wait until it receives an official NCAP rating. Until then, MG Windsor EV safety appears strong on paper, with a well-equipped list of preventive features.
