February 2023: Top 10 Selling Cars in India

The Indian automobile industry got a booming start to the year, with multiple cars selling more than 10,000 units in January 2023. Like always, Maruti Suzuki took the lion’s share with seven of its cars reaching the top ten, while the remaining three spots were grabbed by two Tata cars and one Hyundai car. Here are the top 10 selling cars in India in January 2023, according to Autopunditz.

With an exciting new generation on offer, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno seized the top spot and became the best-selling car of February 2023. Selling 18,592 units the Baleno not only managed to outperform all competitors but also clocked in a huge 48% growth over the 12,570 units it sold in the same month last year.

Month after month, the hatchback makes a swift entry into the best sellers list. This time around, the Swift managed to sell 18,412 units becoming the second best selling car of February 2023. However, despite being the second best seller, Swift saw a 4% decline compared to its performance in the same month last year.

While there is no doubt that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is one of the most popular SUVs in India, ever since the second generation of the Brezza was launched, things have truly come together for the SUV. With premium features like a 360-degree camera, heads-up display and even a sunroof, the Brezza proudly sold 15,787 units in February 2023, with 71% year-on-year growth compared to the 9,256 units the Brezza sold in the same month last year.

With this, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza became the top-selling SUV of the month in addition to being the sixth best selling car. Equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol burner mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic, the Brezza offers a progressive mild hybrid tech for maximum efficiency that jumps as high as 20.15 km/l, with CNG variants also ready to officially hit the market.

Tata Nexon

While the Brezza took the crown this time, it is the Tata Nexon that has been the undisputed leader of the compact SUV segment. Selling 13,914 units in February 2023, the Nexon bagged the seventh position on the best selling chart with a 14% growth over the 12,259 units the SUV sold in February 2022. Boasting a top-notch 5-star safety rating, the Nexon offers great value for money coupled with ample features, great comfort and smart utility.

Being one of the very few SUVs offering a BS6 diesel engine, the Nexon comes powered by either a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol burner or a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This means that the Punch’s popularity is still helping the SUV touch the sky.

Selling 10,421 units in February 2023, the Hyundai Creta managed to take up the tenth spot on the list with an 8% growth over the 9,606 units the SUV sold in the same month last year.
