Tata Motors’ expansion of its EV lineup saw a welcome addition at the Auto Expo 2025, with the Indian manufacturer showcasing the Tata Harrier EV ahead of its launch later in the year. While Tata continues to rule the compact segment of the EV market with the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV, the Indian car maker will be hoping to achieve success in the mid-size segment with the Harrier EV. Here’s everything you need to know about the Tata Harrier EV.
Key Highlights
- Built on modified Harrier platform
- Features dual-motor configuration for AWD functionality
- To be priced above the diesel-powered Harrier
What is the Tata Harrier EV?
Like the Tata Nexon EV, Tiago EV, and Tigor EV, the Tata Harrier EV has been built on the same platform as its ICE counterpart, with heavy modifications to support electric motors and the battery. To recap, the diesel-powered Harrier is built on the Land Rover derived Omega platform. As a result, you can expect the Harrier EV to share the same fundamental strengths as the ICE Harrier, including the high safety rating. With details of the battery pack still to be revealed, the Harrier EV comes equipped with dual motors, one each on the front and rear axles. This configuration gives the Harrier EV All-Wheel Drive capabilities, a key differentiator to the ICE Harrier.
Tata Harrier EV Exterior
The Tata Harrier EV is instantly recognizable as a Harrier thanks to the overall silhouette and design remaining the same as the ICE Harrier. To differentiate the EV from the ICE, Tata has added a few EV-specific tweaks on the Harrier EV. As it is an EV, the front bumper and grille have been redesigned. The Harrier EV features a closed off grille with horizontal stripes, while retaining the light bar introduced on the ICE Harrier. On the side, the Harrier EV features aerodynamically-optimized 17-inch alloy wheels. The headlight and tail light setup remains the same as the diesel Harrier.
Tata Harrier EV Interior
The interiors of the Tata Harrier EV are a carry over of the ICE Harrier. One new addition on the Harrier EV is the large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Like the Punch EV, there will be further interior changes to give owners a more future-forward experience inside the cabin.
Tata Harrier EV Price & Competitors
The Tata Harrier EV arrives at the right time for mid-size electric SUVs in India. Tata’s direct rival, Mahindra has already launched the XEV 9e coupe electric SUV at Rs. 21.90 – 30.50 lakh. It will be safe to assume the Tata Harrier EV will be priced between Rs. 20 – 30 lakh, similar to Mahindra’s offering. Pricing will depend on the size of the battery pack Tata chooses to equip on the Harrier EV.
