A five-seat electric SUV, the MG ZS EV is characterised by the typical proportions of a conventional SUV body with an environmentally friendly appearance as well as an interior that is rich in features. The following photo gallery focuses on the current India-spec MG ZS EV, highlighting the front, side and rear exterior views; dashboard; front seats; second row; cargo area; and exterior paint options.

The current range includes Executive, Excite Pro, Exclusive Plus and Essence variants, all using a 50.3 kWh battery and a front-mounted electric motor. Higher variants add a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, powered driver’s seat and Level 2 ADAS. Used MG ZS EV cars can also be explored on Spinny.

MG ZS EV Exterior Images

The ZS EV has a clean crossover/SUV design featuring a longer bonnet and upright cabin combined with black cladding on the lower half of the vehicle. The facelifted version of the ZS EV features a completely different front-end design with a closed electric grille instead of the more open grille utilised on previous versions. New designs have been introduced to the LED lighting as well as new bumpers, giving a much more modern appearance.

It measures 4,323 mm long, 1,809 mm wide and 1,649 mm tall, with a 2,585 mm wheelbase. The facelifted design also uses a more aerodynamic front treatment than the original India-spec ZS EV, while retaining a familiar SUV silhouette that does not look radically different from a petrol crossover. The current range rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, while silver-finished roof rails add to the SUV stance.

Front Profile

The MG ZS EV’s front end features a unique smooth closed-off grille panel that clearly distinguishes it from a petrol-powered SUV version. Integrated into the front of the vehicle is the charging port, which makes it very easy for the user to plug in their vehicle.

Full LED Hawkeye headlamps sit on either side of the nose and are paired with LED daytime running lights. The lower bumper features dark trim and a wide intake, giving the otherwise clean EV front end a sportier appearance.

Side Profile

When viewed from the side, the MG ZS EV appears more conventional in design than futuristic; however, the gently rising window line coupled with black wheel arch cladding and silver roof rails help to create that SUV appearance. In addition, with a 2,585 mm wheelbase, the ZS EV has a generous amount of usable passenger space.

The current versions use 17-inch alloy wheels with a Tomahawk-inspired design. Body-coloured door handles and ORVMs keep the profile clean.

Rear Profile

The rear of the ZS EV includes sharp-angled LED tail lights with an LED tail light signature. While the shape of the rear hatch is upright so as to give more usable boot space, the MG ZS EV has a roof spoiler and rear wiper that help provide more functionality.

The lower bumper uses black cladding and silver-style detailing to continue the SUV theme. Overall, the rear design remains simple and functional.

The ZS EV exterior combines a recognisable SUV silhouette with enough EV-specific details to distinguish it from conventional petrol and diesel crossovers.

MG ZS EV Interior Images

The ZS EV’s interior is simple, with a standard dashboard setup incorporating a large touchscreen display, a digital instrument panel, and a rotary shifter. Depending on model choices, buyers can select dark grey or ivory interior designs for their ZS EV. Higher trim levels also allow customers to opt for a lighter interior theme in addition to a darker choice, which increases the available options for buyers. With a high seat position, windows that are significantly larger than average, and ivory colour choices for many models, the interior has an open feel, especially when used with the panoramic sunroof found in many trims of the ZS EV.

Soft-touch surfaces, leather upholstery on upper variants and the panoramic roof add to the premium feel.

Key Highlights

  • 10.1-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system
  • 7-inch digital instrument display
  • Dual-pane panoramic sunroof from Excite Pro
  • Powered driver’s seat and wireless charging on higher variants

Dashboard & Front Seats

The central feature of the dashboard is a 10.1-inch high-definition display for all infotainment features. This includes both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Most models also come premium-equipped with MG’s i-SMART connected car technology. The digital instrument cluster of the ZS EV includes a variety of information that is specific to EV driving habits.

Higher variants add a six-way powered driver’s seat, leather upholstery and wireless smartphone charging. Cruise control, push-button start and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are also offered depending on the trim, while the rotary gear selector keeps the centre console compact.

Second Row

In addition to the five-passenger configuration, the MG ZS EV passenger load features a rear bench seat that seats up to three individuals. With a 2,585 mm wheelbase, the ZS EV has plenty of foot space for rear seat passengers, and its adjustable headrests increase comfort for rear-seat passengers.

Rear AC vents, a centre armrest with cupholders on higher variants and charging ports improve everyday convenience. The rear seatback uses a 60:40 split-folding arrangement, allowing part of the bench to remain occupied when longer luggage needs to be carried.

Boot Space

The MG ZS EV offers 448 litres of boot space, making it practical for family luggage and everyday use.

The ZS EV has a 60:40 split rear seat configuration that can be folded down, expanding the available cargo space for transporting larger items. Also, unlike many of today’s purpose-built EVs, the ZS EV does not have a large front compartment, but instead uses its rear boot as the primary area for luggage.

Overall, the ZS EV cabin balances practical space with useful comfort and technology.

MG ZS EV Colour Options

Currently, the MG ZS EV is being sold in four primary colours. While Executive has limited colour options, Excite Pro, Exclusive Plus, and Essence have a wider variety of choices available.

Colour NameTypeAvailability
Candy WhiteSolidCurrent range
Aurora SilverMetallicCurrent range
Starry BlackMetallicCurrent range
Glaze RedMetallicExcite Pro and higher variants

Candy White provides contrast to the black accents and the absence of grille ‘openings’ of the ZS EV, while Aurora Silver creates a minimalist aesthetic for the SUV. Additionally, Starry Black helps project a more businesslike appearance for the ZS EV’s exterior.

Glaze Red is the brightest choice and gives the ZS EV a sportier appearance. The Executive currently has fewer colour choices than the variants above it.

Summary

The MG ZS EV maintains the standard proportions of an SUV but adds additional aspects that are unique to electric vehicles, including a closed-grille front fascia, a built-in charging port in place of a typical fuel door and the use of LED trip lighting. Also, the addition of 17-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, silver roof racks and a more vertical configuration than other SUVs enhances the conventional look of this car, though it is very simplistic in nature.

Inside, the ZS EV offers a 10.1-inch touchscreen, digital instrumentation, rear AC vents and a useful 448-litre boot. Higher variants add a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS. The same 50.3 kWh battery and 461 km claimed range apply across the current line-up.
