Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT SUV. The German auto giant says it developed this five-seat performance EV entirely in-house. Sharing its underpinnings with the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-door Coupe, the GT SUV will be available in three variants: GT 53, GT 55, GT 63. The top GT 63 develops 1,185 PS and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in 2.7 seconds. Mercedes-AMG will launch the GT 53 first, with two other variants joining the lineup later. Here is a closer look at the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV.
Mercedes-AMG GT SUV: Dimensions & Design

The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is 5,084 mm long, 2,001 mm wide, 1,656 mm tall, and has a 3,040 mm long wheelbase. It also has a 607-litre boot and a 78-litre frunk.
Its aggressive front fascia features AMG’s vertical-slats grille with the Mercedes-Benz star logo in the middle, flanked by sharp boomerang-shaped LED headlamps with star-shaped LED DRLs. Both the grille and star logo can be optionally illuminated. Lower on the bumper are vertical air-intake slats that open only when internal components need extra cooling. In profile, the GT SUV has a sloping roofline, relatively large wheel arches, frameless windows, and compact ORVMs. At the rear, three-pod LED tail lamps are set in a blacked-out panel. Customers can also opt for a full-width light strip.

The top two variants, GT 55 and GT 63, sport an active rear spoiler that stays flush with the roof until the SUV reaches 150 km/hr, then changes angle depending on driving conditions. The base GT 53 has a drag coefficient of 0.28, while the other two have 0.27.
As for exterior paint colour options, customers can customise the GT SUV through the brand’s MANUFAKTUR programme, which offers over 60 paint options. Customers can also opt for AMG’s forged wheels in specific colour accents, including Matt Vanadium Silver and Matt Copper, and Matt Black with a rim flange in Angle Blue, Sunny Lime, or Orange Flame.
Mercedes-AMG GT SUV: Interior & Features

Inside, seats are positioned like a sports car rather than an SUV. Both front seats are power-adjustable, while the rear seats get electronically foldable headrests. The driver-focused front section features a dual-screen setup angled toward the driver. This setup includes a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Like typical AMG cars, the steering wheel has paddles to adjust regenerative braking levels.

Like the exterior, the GT SUV’s interior can be personalised with the MANUFAKTUR programme; options include accent and seat belt colours in Fjord Blue, Green Hell, or Orange Flame.
The GT SUV’s infotainment system features the brand’s latest MBUX tech, integrating AI agents like ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini. The GT SUV also gets some AMG-specific apps. For example, the AMG Performance Menu displays real-time information on tyre temperature, active aero status, and power. There are also ‘AMG Set-up’ and ‘AMG Track Pace’. AMG Set-up lets the driver customise steering wheel buttons and aero settings, and AMG Track Pace records lap times and telemetry. Users can also use this app to see optimal braking points and ideal racing line on the head-up display. They can also opt for a dashcam that records laps with data overlays.
Other key features include an electrically dimming panoramic glass roof, AMG lighting, AMG performance seats, and a Burmester 4D sound system.
Mercedes-AMG GT SUV: Battery, Performance, and Range
The base GT 53 variant uses a 106-kWh battery pack connected with two permanent synchronous motors – one on each axle, with a 2-speed gearbox at the rear. This model develops 551 PS of power and 800 Nm of peak torque, and can do a 0 to 100 km/hr sprint in 4.2 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/hr. It has a claimed range of up to 668 km.
The top two variants, GT 55 and GT 63, come with a 128-kWh battery pack. Both models have two axial flux motors on the rear axle and one on the front axle. The front motor can be disengaged when not needed.
With three motors, the GT 55 produces 827 PS of power and 1,860 Nm of peak torque, and can do a 0-100 km/hr dash in 3.1 seconds.
The top GT 63 variant produces 1185 PS of power and 2,000 Nm of peak torque, and can do a 0-100 km/hr dash in 2.7 seconds.
Both GT 55 and GT 63 have a top speed of 270 km/hr with an optional driver’s package. Moreover, both have a claimed range of 700 km. With DC fast charging, both GT 55 and GT 63 can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 11-12 minutes.
Performance Features
The Mercedes AMG GT SUV comes with rear-wheel steering as standard. The top GT 63 model gets AMG’s new ‘Active Ride Control+’ suspension, which replaces conventional anti-roll bars with hydraulic units and better curbs body roll and pitch. It also gets carbon-ceramic brakes.
In the GT 55 and GT 63 variants, the driver can use the dials on the centre console to adjust throttle response, traction control, and cornering. Moreover, ‘AMGForce Sport+’ mode simulates the AMG V8 exhaust sound along with simulated gear shifts.
