Jaguar has revealed the Type 01, its first production model under the brand’s new design and electrification strategy. The four-door electric GT takes a very different approach to styling, with a long bonnet, low roofline and a distinctive rear design that does away with a conventional rear windscreen.
Underneath its dramatic exterior is a three-motor electric powertrain that develops 1,030PS and 1,365Nm. The Type 01 also gets a 118kWh (usable) battery and is claimed to deliver up to 720km of range on the WLTP cycle.
The new GT also marks Jaguar’s move into a more technology-focused luxury EV segment, with a four-seat cabin, advanced suspension hardware and fast-charging capability. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in 2027, with the Type 01 set to form an important part of the brand’s upcoming electric line-up.

A Completely New Jaguar Design

The Type 01 marks a significant departure from Jaguar’s previous design approach. While the car retains some of the proportions associated with a grand touring model, its details are considerably more minimalist and futuristic.
At the front is Jaguar’s new ‘strikethrough’ design element, which takes the place of a traditional grille. The lower section incorporates active aerodynamic shutters, while slim headlamps feature four-line daytime running lights that are expected to become a recognisable element of Jaguar’s future models.
The long bonnet and extended wheelbase contribute to the Type 01’s grand touring proportions. The car has a 3.2-metre wheelbase and sits on 23-inch wheels, with a 21-inch all-season wheel option also offered.
Jaguar has also moved its leaping cat emblem away from the bonnet. It now sits on a Fender Ingot detail on the front fenders.
The electric GT has been designed with aerodynamics in mind and has a claimed drag coefficient of 0.23. Its smooth surfaces and active aerodynamic elements help improve efficiency at higher speeds.
The Rear Has No Conventional Windscreen

One of the most unusual aspects of the Type 01 is its rear design. There is no conventional rear windscreen, with Jaguar instead using a rear-facing camera and digital display to provide the driver with a view behind the car.
The tail-lamps are integrated into the horizontal rear design and remain largely hidden when they are switched off. The strikethrough theme from the front is carried across the rear as well.
A three-stage deployable rear spoiler sits above the rear section and works alongside Jaguar’s Active Vanes to manage airflow.
Despite the dramatic styling, the Type 01 offers more than 450 litres of combined loadspace, which includes a hidden underfloor storage area.
Four-Seat Interior With a Minimalist Layout

The cabin follows the same design philosophy as the exterior. Rather than offering five seats, Jaguar has configured the Type 01 as a four-seater, with a prominent central spine separating the front and rear sections.
The centre structure houses storage areas and controls for rear passengers. Brass-finished details are used throughout the cabin, creating a contrast with the otherwise minimalist interior.
A 24-inch display stretches across the dashboard and combines the instrument cluster and infotainment functions. A secondary 7-inch touchscreen sits between the driver and front passenger.
The front seats come with heating, ventilation and massage functions. A glass roof adds more light to the cabin, although the low roofline and relatively small side windows contribute to the car’s enclosed appearance.

1,030PS From Three Electric Motors
The Type 01 is powered by three electric motors, with one motor driving the front axle and two mounted at the rear.
The combined output stands at 1,030PS and 1,365Nm. Jaguar claims a 0-100kph time of 3.2 seconds, while the 100-180kph acceleration run takes four seconds.
The car uses torque vectoring along with multiple drive modes. Its suspension combines air springs with twin-valve active dampers, along with all-wheel steering.
Jaguar says the all-wheel-steering system adds agility in the city and stability at higher speeds.
118kWh Battery Offers Up to 720km of Range

Power comes from a battery pack with a reported gross capacity of 120kWh, of which 118kWh is usable. Jaguar claims a maximum WLTP range of 720km.
The Type 01 uses an 850-volt electrical architecture and supports DC fast charging at rates of up to 350kW.
According to Jaguar, a compatible high-power charger can add approximately 321km of range in around 13 minutes. A 10-80 percent charge takes approximately 22 minutes under suitable charging conditions.
The car also features charging ports on both sides of the vehicle, with split charging for chargers on different voltage systems.
Type 01: Size and Practicality

The Type 01 has been designed as a large luxury GT, with its long wheelbase helping create additional space for the four-seat cabin.
The car’s 3.2-metre wheelbase is complemented by a low overall height of around 1,400mm. Its large 23-inch wheels further emphasise its proportions.
The boot offers more than 450 litres of combined loadspace, including a hidden underfloor area, and the rear seats can tilt forward.
When Will the Jaguar Type 01 Go on Sale?
Jaguar is expected to open orders for the Type 01 in early 2027, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in the second half of the year.
In the UK, the Type 01 is priced from £129,950 (OTR), while the Design Vision edition starts from £144,950. The Type 01 is also expected to reach India a few months after its international launch, although the exact timing and pricing for the Indian market will be confirmed closer to its arrival.
Jaguar Type 01: What It Means for the Brand
The Type 01 represents Jaguar’s move towards an all-electric future and introduces a design direction that is very different from its previous generation of cars. Along with its distinctive appearance, the GT combines a four-seat cabin with a 1,030PS three-motor powertrain and a claimed 720km range.
With production and deliveries planned for 2027, the Type 01 will be the first major production model to showcase Jaguar’s new approach to electric luxury cars. More details about its pricing, market availability and deliveries are expected to be announced closer to its launch.
