Mercedes-Benz debuted the new CLA concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. From the number one luxury car brand in India, this is the first car to be developed on the new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA), which is compatible with both EV and combustion engine powertrains. Since Mercedes-Benz has not revealed the details of the ICE version yet, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming Mercedes CLA EV exhibited at the Auto Expo 2025.
Mercedes CLA Concept: Design

The next-gen Mercedes CLA concept retains its coupe-like silhouette with a sloping rear roofline. With the low-slung stance and shark-nose face, the next-gen CLA looks sporty. At the front, a prominent Mercedes logo is embossed on an illuminated grille, with an animated stars pattern. Moreover, there is a full-width LED light bar running across the fenders and doors, exuding a futuristic appeal, and striking new headlamps with a three-pointed star logo in an LED signature. Adding to the sporty character are the 21-inch alloy wheels and the flared wheel arches housing them. At the back, the next-gen CLA concept gets a pronounced haunch, notchback-style boot lid, with a wraparound light bar with mirrored chrome effects. Meanwhile, the frameless doors and a large glass roof that goes to the boot are a couple of special attractions.

Mercedes CLA Concept: Interior
On the inside, the new CLA concept features an MBUX Superscreen running across the length of the dashboard, which combines three screens – the instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, and front passenger display. This full-width screen setup is identical to those seen on the EQXX concept and is functioned by a supercomputer that integrates artificial intelligence and machine learning. Moreover, Mercedes claims to have used sustainable materials across the cabin, such as recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic and paper trims.

While the new CLA is engineered to be compatible with Level 3 Lidar-based autonomous driving capabilities, the initial models are expected to offer SAE Level 2 semi-autonomous driving using LiDAR sensors, which enable hands-free car motion under certain conditions. Buyers will have the option to upgrade to Level 3 with over-the-air updates.
Mercedes CLA Concept: Battery & Range
While the details of the official battery and its size have not been revealed, Mercedes claims that the new Mercedes CLA will have a range of over 750 km. In the CLA concept, the electric motor is mounted on the rear axle and mated to a two-speed transmission. All the same, since the MMA platform is compatible with all-wheel-drive, Mercedes may offer the Mercedes CLA 4Matic later.
