New Toyota Fortuner: Quick Overview

new Toyota Fortuner

The latest update to the Toyota Fortuner came in June 2025, when Toyota launched its mild-hybrid variants. These mild-hybrid variants are equipped with the Fortuner’s 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine with a 48V hybrid system, which includes a belt-integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery. With the mild-hybrid system, the Fortuner is claimed to deliver 5 percent higher fuel efficiency. Badged as ‘Neo Drive’, the mild-hybrid variants offer a 360-degree camera in addition to the previously offered features on the Fortuner.

Moreover, in April 2025, Toyota discontinued the petrol-manual variants of the Fortuner.

Apart from the mild-hybrid variants, the new Fortuner continues with the package that was already being offered. It is powered by a 2.7-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine. The petrol engine comes with a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The diesel engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The mild-hybrid variants come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic only. While all variants are available in a rear-wheel-drive setup, the four-wheel-drive option is limited to the diesel engine only (both standard and mild-hybrid).

Off-roading features such as High [H4] and Low [L4] Range, DAC (Downhill Assist Control), Electronic Drive (2WD/4WD) Control, and Differential lock are available with 4WD variants only.

As far as features are concerned, the Fortuner offers ventilated and electrically-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, powered tailgate, and more. The 11-speaker JBL sound system is limited to diesel variants, while MTS (Multi-Terrain System) Mud/Sand/Rock/Dirt/Deep Snow, 360-degree camera and wireless charger are limited to the top Diesel-Neo Drive 48V [AT] variant.
