Mercedes-Benz has introduced the facelifted Maybach S-Class in India, with prices starting at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom). The luxury sedan is being offered in the S 580e specification, bringing a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the Maybach range in India for the first time.

The new model is available exclusively as a four-seat luxury sedan and gets a long list of upgrades focused on rear-seat comfort, technology and electrified performance. For the initial phase, Mercedes-Benz has allocated only 30 units of the Maybach S 580e for the Indian market.

The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S 580e is priced at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom). Unlike the outgoing Maybach S-Class, which was powered by a V8 petrol engine, the new version uses a plug-in hybrid setup.

At its core is a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine producing 443hp and 560Nm. It works alongside an electric motor developing 160hp and 480Nm. The combined system produces 585hp and 750Nm, with power sent to all four wheels.

The sedan uses a 22kWh battery pack and can travel up to 98km using electric power alone. Its electric-only top speed is rated at 140kph. Mercedes-Benz also claims a WLTP-certified fuel efficiency figure of 34.48kpl.

The S 580e gets three driving modes: Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold. It also offers adjustable energy recuperation, including a one-pedal driving function.

For charging, the luxury sedan comes with an 11kW AC onboard charger and supports DC fast charging at up to 60kW. Air suspension and rear-axle steering are offered as standard.

As expected from a Maybach, the rear passenger area receives considerable attention. The India-spec S 580e comes with a four-seat arrangement, with two individual executive rear seats separated by a full-length business console.

The standard Rear Comfort Package Plus adds features such as fold-out tables, wireless charging pads, ambient lighting for the rear compartment and temperature-controlled cup holders.

The rear seats can recline up to 43 degrees, compared with 38 degrees in the regular S-Class. They also offer heating, ventilation and massage functions. Instead of the earlier tablet-style controller, passengers get two dedicated smartphone-style remotes to operate various cabin functions.

Up front, the MBUX Superscreen continues to dominate the dashboard. It combines the central infotainment display with a dedicated front passenger screen that includes a privacy function. The driver gets a freestanding 3D instrument display.

The displays feature a Maybach-specific user interface with rose gold design elements. Other technology highlights include an augmented-reality head-up display, augmented-reality navigation and a 31-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system.

Rear passengers also get two entertainment screens along with wireless headphones.

The cabin uses Maybach-specific Nappa leather upholstery finished in crystal white and silver grey pearl. Other premium touches include Manufaktur piano lacquer trim, a crystal white Nappa leather roof liner and Manufaktur trim for the rear seat backs.

Maybach S-Class Exterior Design

The facelifted Maybach S-Class follows the design changes introduced with the updated regular S-Class, while adding several distinctive Maybach elements.

At the front, the grille is around 20 percent larger and features illuminated detailing. It gets the traditional Maybach vertical chrome slats along with an illuminated Maybach wordmark. An illuminated Mercedes star is positioned on the bonnet above the grille.

The updated headlamps are larger and use the latest version of Mercedes-Benz’s Digital Light technology. The daytime running lamps retain the three-pointed-star theme, while rose gold detailing and Maybach branding add a more distinctive appearance.

The Maybach S-Class continues to be considerably longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class, with an additional 180mm of length. The India-spec model rides on 20-inch forged Maybach alloy wheels.

A counterweighted Mercedes logo is incorporated into the wheels and remains upright as they rotate. The D-pillar also features an illuminated Maybach logo, while the rear gets updated tail-lamps with a three-pointed-star LED signature.

Mercedes-Maybach S 580e: What Makes It Different?

The new Maybach S-Class combines the traditional focus on rear-seat luxury with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Its 585hp system output and all-wheel-drive configuration give it strong performance, while the 22kWh battery allows it to cover a claimed 98km on electric power alone.

The four-seat cabin, executive rear seats, full-length centre console and extensive comfort equipment further distinguish it from the standard S-Class.

With the S 580e, Mercedes-Benz has also expanded its plug-in hybrid portfolio in India. It is the brand’s third PHEV in the country, following the updated S-Class and AMG E 53 Hybrid.

The Maybach S-Class has also become an important part of the S-Class range in India, with Mercedes-Benz stating that Maybach versions account for around half of its S-Class sales in the country.
