Steps to Check & Pay your Traffic Challan

Spinny

Offline

Visit the E-Challan Page

Go to the Haryana e Challan section on the Spinny website or app. Enter your vehicle registration number to begin.

Visit the Court

If your challan is marked as a Court Challan, it must be settled at the Judicial Magistrate Court mentioned in the notice. Carry a valid ID proof like Aadhaar, Driving Licence, or Voter ID.

Check your Challan

Click on ‘Check Haryana Challan’ to fetch all pending traffic challans linked to your registration number. If you're not logged in, you'll be prompted to verify via an OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Once verified, your challans will be displayed with complete details: offense type, date, and fine amount.

Appear on the Given Date

You’ll be given a summon date to appear in court. The judge will review the case, explain the violation, and decide the final payable amount. In some cases, the fine may be negotiable.

Make Payment

By default, all pending challans are automatically selected. You can select or deselect multiple challans as needed, then click on ‘Review Payment’ at the bottom. On the next screen, click ‘Pay Now’, choose your preferred payment method; UPI, Credit/Debit Card, or Net Banking - and complete the transaction securely through our payment gateway.

Make the Payment

After the hearing, you can pay the fine at the court's payment counter. Most courts accept cash, and some may offer digital payment options.

What is an E-Challan in Haryana?

An e challan in Haryana is an electronic traffic fine issued by the Haryana traffic police. Violations include overspeeding, jumping a red light, riding without a helmet, or driving without valid documents. An e-challan is linked directly to your vehicle number and recorded on the Parivahan system. You get an SMS alert on the mobile number registered with your vehicle.

Fines have become much stricter since the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 came into force. Driving without a licence now costs ₹5,000, drunk driving ₹10,000 for a first offence, and riding without a helmet ₹1,000 plus a possible three-month licence disqualification.

Every Haryana challan stays linked to your vehicle until it's cleared. A regular challan check helps you avoid court challans. You can check challans online in Haryana by vehicle number, challan number, or DL number on Parivahan or Spinny, view your challan status, and pay challan online in minutes.

How Haryana Traffic Police Issue E-Challans?

An e challan in Haryana is a digital fine recorded and linked to your vehicle registration number. These violations are generally recorded by traffic authorities or by CCTV cameras. You need to check challan details and pay a Haryana traffic challan.

  • At first, the violation is recorded. Speed and CCTV cameras with handheld devices detect offences like overspeeding, signal jumping, or missing documents.

  • The vehicle owner is identified. The vehicle registration number is used to retrieve the owner’s details from the Parivahan database.

  • The e-challan is issued with details such as offence, date, time, location, and fine amount.

  • An SMS is now sent to the mobile number registered with the vehicle.

  • Owners can do a challan check online by vehicle number on Parivahan or Spinny for both cars and bikes.

  • You can pay challan online via UPI, debit or credit card, or net banking.

How to Check and Pay E-Challan Online in Haryana?

Vehicle owners can do a challan check by vehicle number, challan number, DL number, and clear all their pending fines. If you drive in Gurugram, you can also check your e-challan in Gurgaon for city-specific details. Below are the steps to check challan online in Haryana and pay challans online:

  • Visit the official Parivahan e-challan portal or the Spinny e-challan portal.

Check Bike Challan Online in Haryana

Two-wheelers in Haryana get the same way e-challans are issued to four-wheeler owners. This is often due to riding without a helmet, triple riding, or missing documents. Helmet rules apply to both the rider and pillion, so it can lead to a Haryana traffic challan. You should do a bike challan check as challans are linked to your vehicle number.

To do a bike challan check online, visit the Parivahan e-challan portal or Spinny's challan check page and enter your bike's vehicle number, challan number, or DL number. Verify with the captcha or OTP, then view your challan status and challan details, including the offence, date, and fine amount. You can then pay the challan online via UPI, card, or net banking and clear your dues in minutes

What Happens If You Don't Pay a Challan in Haryana?

An unpaid e challan in Haryana doesn’t get cancelled or expire. A vehicle challan stays linked to your vehicle registration number. Vehicle Detention

Repeated violations or missing documents can lead to your vehicle being detained.

With Spinny, you can view and clear all pending car and bike challans in minutes.

Paying Challans Through Virtual Court and Lok Adalat

If you can’t pay the Haryana traffic challan on time, it’s sent to a virtual court, and the regular challan payment option may stop working. You have two ways to complete the challan payment:

Virtual Court: Visit the official virtual court portal, select Haryana and the traffic department. Enter using your challan number or vehicle number. Check the challan details and the fine set by the court, pay the challan online, and save the receipt.

Lok Adalat: The Haryana State Legal Services Authority holds Lok Adalats periodically, where pending challans can often be settled at a reduced fine. Check upcoming dates on the HALSA or district court website, register if required, and carry your challan and vehicle documents. Serious offences like drunk driving may not qualify.

After completing the challan payment, check your challan status again to make sure it shows as cleared.

How to Dispute a Wrong E-Challan in Haryana?

If by any chance you’ve received an e-challan in Haryana, you can dispute the Haryana traffic challan instead of paying it. It can be either for a misread number plate or a vehicle you’ve already sold. Below are the steps to dispute a wrong challan:

  1. Do a challan check by vehicle number and note the challan number and challan details.

  2. Now, gather proof such as photos of the vehicle, payment receipts, sale documents, or location records.

  3. Raise a grievance on the Parivahan echallan portal or contact the Haryana traffic police helpline or your district traffic police office.

  4. If the challan has been sent to virtual court, choose to contest it there instead of paying.

  5. Track your challan status until it's cancelled or corrected.

Don't pay a challan you plan to dispute. Paying it is usually treated as accepting the offence.

Documents Required to Avoid a Traffic Challan in Haryana

Vehicle owners can easily get a Haryana traffic challan if they have missing or expired documents. Whether you drive a car or ride a bike, having valid papers helps you avoid an e challan in Haryana during traffic checks or camera-based inspections.

  • Driving Licence (or Learner's Licence): Required for all drivers

  • Registration Certificate (RC): Required for all vehicles

  • Motor Insurance Policy: Required for all vehicles

  • PUC Certificate: Required for all vehicles

  • Fitness Certificate: Commercial vehicles only

  • Permit: Commercial vehicles only

  • Road Tax Receipt: Commercial vehicles only

Keep digital copies of your documents in DigiLocker or the mParivahan app, as these documents are valid during traffic checks.

Challans on a Sold Vehicle: Who Pays?

Every e challan in Haryana is linked to the vehicle’s registration number. If the RC transfer isn't updated on Parivahan, a Haryana traffic challan can show up against the wrong owner. Who pays depends on when the offence happened: before the handover, the seller's responsible; after the handover, the buyer's.

Stage

Seller

Buyer

Before the sale

Do a challan check by vehicle number and clear all pending dues.

Check the vehicle's challan status and challan details, and ask the seller to clear any dues.

During the handover

Keep Form 29, Form 30, and a signed delivery note with the date and time.

Make sure pending challans are cleared, as they can block the RC transfer.

After the handover

Follow up until the RC transfer is complete on Parivahan.

Any new challan is yours to pay challan online, even if the RC still shows the old owner.

If a wrong challan appears

Raise it with the traffic police using your sale documents.

Complete the RC transfer quickly so future challans reach your registered mobile number.

Buying or selling through Spinny makes this easier, as pending challans are checked and the RC transfer is handled for you.
