German luxury carmaker, BMW, has launched the BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine at Rs 67.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Replacing the Luxury Edition, the xLine is yet another diesel-powered model and maintains uniformity across the BMW X3 range. Earlier this month, BMW launched the 20d M Sport variant at Rs 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and discontinued the petrol variant. Here is a closer look at the new BMW X3 xLine.

Check out the used BMW luxury cars in India.

  • Priced Rs. 20,000 higher than the outgoing X3 Luxury Edition
  • Powered by the same 2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine as the M Sport variant
  • Minor styling differences from the outgoing X3 Luxury Edition

BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine: Design

As far as looks go, the BMW X3 xLine sports an aggressive face with BMW’s iconic kidney grille upfront and flat-looking  adaptive LED headlight set-up. Moreover, there are prominent creases and lines all around. However, most of the styling is the same as of the outgoing X3 Luxury Edition. The roof rails are aluminium-finished and the 20-inch alloys have been replaced with 19-inch alloys. At the rear, there are sculpted tail lights that extend from the D-pillar to the boot.

BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine: Features

The BMW X3 xLine gets Oak and Pearl chrome interior, while the M Sport comes with an Aluminium and Pearl chrome trim. On the feature front, the xLine gets a panoramic glass roof, a 16-speaker Harman-Kardon sound system, and a 12.3-inch infotainment unit with an integrated BMW iDrive system. The xLine, however, loses out on a heads-up display, a 3D view surround camera, and gesture controls which are the part of the package of M Sport.

BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine: Engine and Transmission

Both xLine and M Sport are equipped with a 2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine which produces 190 PS power and 400 Nm torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels and can even divide the torque between the rear wheels. BMW claims the xLine can sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 213 km/hr.

However, the xLine misses out on the Dynamic Damper control that is available in the M Sport. In this system, every wheel has a set of sensors that evaluates the shock impact and adjusts the shock absorbers, resulting in more comfort and greater precision while driving.

BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine: Rivals

The BMW xLine will rival Volvo XC60, Audi Q5, and Land Rover Discovery Sport. The availability of a diesel engine can be a considerable factor in this case, as the Q5 is available exclusively with a petrol powertrain, and the XC60 comes with a hybrid system, however, the Discovery does come with a diesel engine.
