The MG Comet EV is one of the most unique cars in India. First of all, with the ex-showroom price of Rs 7.36 – 9.86 lakh (ex-showroom), the Comet is the most affordable electric car in the Indian market. Combine this with a city-friendly range and the Comet becomes a compelling offering for a small family residing in urban areas. However, as we know, for a car, urban areas mean numerous cars driving down the roads and high chances of accidents. This prompts an important question: Is your car sufficiently safe? To give you a comprehensive answer, in this article, we ͏͏͏explore the͏ MG Comet NCAP safety rating, and the safety features it offers to keep the passengers safe in an unfortunate accident.

MG Comet EV NCAP Safety Rating

The MG Comet EV has not been tested by Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP, the designated organisations that rate cars’ safety levels. Therefore, there is no NCAP rating for the MG Comet to form an idea of how safe it will be in an accident.

MG Comet EV Body Structure and Build Quality

Unlike many electric cars that are based on their ICE-powered counterparts, the MG Comet is built on a dedicated EV platform, GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle). MG claims the Comet’s body uses 17 hot-stamped panels for maximum structural strength.

MG Comet EV Safety Features

Standard Safety Features

The͏͏ following safety features are standard across all MG Comet Variants.

  • Dual Front ͏Airbag͏͏s:͏ ͏Two airbags at the front to protect the driver and the front passenger during a frontal collision.

Advanced Safety Features in Higher Variants

  • Electronic Parking Brake: An electronic parking brake is an advanced form of a hand brake. It uses a digital system and electric motors to apply and release the parking brake.
  • Rear Disc Brakes: The top ‘Exclusive’ variant of the Comet EV also offers disc brakes on the rear wheels, in addition to front disc brakes.
  • Electronic Stability Control: Electronic Stability Control, or ESC, is a computer-controlled technology that detects traction changes between the vehicle and road, and it automatically applies brakes to assist the steering process.
