Before purchasing a used car or a new car, checking the emission level of the motor vehicle is a must. This is where Form 22 plays a role, as it helps us to know the level of greenhouse gases the vehicle emits. According to the Motor Vehicles Act 1989, the Central Government has been assigned the task to regulate the vehicle emission standards for all motor vehicles in India.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), implements the emissions standards for the individual states. If the vehicle exceeds the level of greenhouse gases as per the Government norms, then one must ensure not to buy the same. After you have bought a car, you have to get it registered within a tentative time limit; during applying for vehicle registration one also must submit Form 22 with all the necessary details filled in.
