The Central Government has made the Aadhaar card mandatory for all vehicle-related transactions since 2021, including the registration of new vehicles. With the implementation of Aadhaar for vehicle-related transactions, it will become easier for the government to get clear information on the number of vehicles in possession of each person. By making the Aadhaar card mandatory, the government can curb fake transactions in vehicle registration and other processes.

The procedures that will require the Aadhaar details are vehicle licensing, vehicle registration, apprentice license, renewal of non-testing driving license, duplicate driving license, address and other changes, international vehicle license, buying a new car or used car, and while buying a new car insurance.
