Making sure that a smooth RC transfer takes place is important when you buy or sell your car for securing hassle-free and easy ownership. The Registration Certificate (RC) transfer is the key to seamless ownership transition. Thus, it’s crucial that you know how to check RC status online. Fortunately, it is easy and can be done from the comfort of your home with a few standard steps to verify its status.

Using the Parivahan Sewa website:

Open the browser of your choice on your laptop or phone. Type the URL https://parivahan.gov.in/ or open the first link when you search “Parivahan Sewa” on Google.  Look for “Online Services” and click it at the top menu. You will get two options to proceed forward. These are:

Using Application Number:

If you have the application number ready with you, then go ahead with this option. The process to find the status from the application number is:

  1. Open the drop-down menu provided.
  2. Choose the option “Vehicle-Related Services”.
  3. Select the state you reside in and the RTO office where your application is pending from the list.
  4. Below the “Status” tab, choose “Know Your Application Status.”
  5. Enter the application number you have.
  6. Click on the “Submit” button.
  7. The portal will now show you the transfer status.

Using Registration Number:

If you don’t have the application number handy, use this process. Its as easy as using your vehicle’s registration number.

  1. Start by looking for “Informational Services”.
  2. Under that, select “Know Your Vehicle Details” from the menu.
  3. Enter your vehicle’s registration number and captcha code, then click “Search Vehicle.”
  4. You can now see RC details, but you may not see the transfer status.

In all, if you have the transfer application number, the Parivahan Sewa website offers a straightforward process. Otherwise, you can use your vehicle’s registration number to get some RC details, not the transfer status.

Using your state’s RTO website:

Many states in India have their own Regional Transport Office (RTO) websites where you can check the RC transfer status. You’ll have to search for the specific website for your state’s RTO. This should take you no more than a Google search. The process for checking the status may vary depending on the website.

Search for your state’s RTO website:

Use a search engine like Google and type “[Your State Name] RTO website”. For example, typing “Haryana RTO website” might lead you to https://haryanatransport.gov.in/.

Look for the “Services” or “Online Services” section:

Once you’re on your state’s RTO website, navigate through the menus or search for a section titled “Services” or “Online Services”. This section typically holds information and options for various RTO-related tasks.

Find the RC transfer status option:

In the “Services” or “Online Services” section, look for vehicle registration or transfer options. This could be labelled as “Vehicle Status”, “RC Status Enquiry”, or something similar.

Follow the website’s instructions:

Each website might have its own way of checking the status. A login option could require you to create an account if you don’t already have one. To proceed, you should enter your vehicle’s registration number or other details.

Do note that each state RTO website might have its layout and process. Search for your state’s RTO website and navigate to the “Services” or “Online Services” section to find the RC transfer status option. There might be login requirements or variations in how the status is displayed. If you encounter any difficulties or your state RTO website doesn’t offer online status checks, don’t hesitate to contact your local RTO office for assistance.

Here are some additional tips:

For added convenience, consider creating an account on Parivahan Sewa or your state’s RTO website to access RC transfer status easily. Keep your vehicle’s registration number handy when checking the status, as it’s often required for online inquiries. In case online status checks are not available or if you encounter difficulties, don’t hesitate to contact your local RTO office for assistance.

1. Keep Track of Application Number: If you’ve already started the RC transfer process, make sure to note down the application number. This number serves as the key identifier to track the status of your transfer. Remember this number and save it for future reference.

2. Regularly Check for Updates: While waiting for the RC transfer to be processed, check the status frequently using the methods mentioned above. Set reminders to revisit the Parivahan Sewa portal or your state’s RTO website to stay informed about any progress or updates.

3. Be Patient: Processing times for RC transfers can vary depending on various factors such as workload at the RTO office, completeness of documentation, and administrative procedures. Be patient during the waiting period and avoid unnecessary stress.

4. Verify Details Carefully: When entering information on the Parivahan Sewa portal or your state’s RTO website, double-check the accuracy of details such as application numbers, vehicle registration numbers, and captcha codes. Incorrect information could lead to errors or delays in retrieving the transfer status.

5. Keep Communication Channels Open: If you have any issues or have inquiries with regards to the RC transfer process, feel free to reach out to your local RTO office. They can help by providing guidance, address concerns, and offer assistance to ensure a smooth transition of ownership.

6. Maintain Documentation: Throughout the RC transfer process, maintain copies of all relevant documents, including:

  • Form 28
  • Clearance Certificate from NCRB
  • NOC from the Traffic Police
  • PUC certificate
  • Registration Certificate Copy
  • Insurance Policy document
  • Road Tax Payment supportive document proof (for commercial vehicles)
  • NOC from the bank (if the car is guaranteed by a loan)

These documents serve as proof of transaction and can be valuable for future reference or legal purposes.

7. Follow Legal Requirements: Adhere to all legal requirements and procedures stipulated by the transport authorities during the RC transfer process. This includes completing necessary paperwork, paying applicable fees, and obtaining endorsements or clearances as required by law.

By following these additional tips along with the outlined steps for checking RC transfer status, you can navigate the process smoothly and efficiently, ensuring a seamless transition of ownership for your vehicle.

Conclusion

By following the outlined steps and using either the Parivahan Sewa portal or your state’s RTO website, you can make sure that a smooth transfer of your RC takes place. Stay informed, stay updated, and enjoy worry-free driving with legally transferred vehicle ownership!
