Hyundai has recently revealed an ambitious game plan for the coming years, with 26 models slated to launch by 2030. Of these models, the Hyundai Palisade will take the position of the new Hyundai flagship. Slated to be launched in 2028, the Hyundai Palisade will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian. Here is a closer look at the Hyundai Palisade.
Hyundai Palisade: Design

The Hyundai Palisade is a large three-row SUV with a seating capacity of up to eight adults. While its size is enough to make for a dominant road presence, its boxy design with rounded corners, much like the Hyundai Creta, complements it well. The front profile features an upright, tall grille with five horizontal slats, and the large Hyundai badge sits atop the grille. The vertically placed headlamps have a slated design that agrees well with the slated grille. The front bumper also has two slats and a U-shaped finish with brushed aluminium.

On the side, the Palisade looks angular with a large glasshouse, flared wheel arches, a turbine-like design for the large 21-inch alloy wheels, and silver treatment at the roof boundary and the D-pillar. At the rear, again, there is a slated design for the vertically positioned tail lamps, while the rear bumper and tailgate follow a minimalist design, with a large Hyundai logo, and a centrally mounted license plate housing.
Hyundai Palisade: Interior and Features

On the inside, the Hyundai Palisade packs a plush atmosphere, thanks to the rich quality of material used and the light beige interior theme. The double-layered dashboard features a dual-screen setup, comprising a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, much like the Hyundai Creta. The steering wheel, which comes with multiple controls and a wood finish, looks much like the steering wheels of the Range Rover. The AC vents are oval-shaped; two of them are placed on the dashboard corners, while the central vents are placed above the HVAC controls. The Central console features a large armrest with two flappy openings and a cubby hole, along with a wireless charging slot. As mentioned, the Palisade comes with a three-row layout that can accommodate up to eight occupants. In variants with captain seats in the middle row, there is a recline facility and deployable footrests.

In terms of features, the Palisade will come with a host of upmarket perks, such as a 14-speaker Bose sound system, premium Nappa Leather upholstery, dual-zone or triple-zone automatic climate control, ventilated & heated front and middle-row seats, powered front passenger seat, 12-way powered driver seat with memory function, heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, wireless charging pad, head-up display (HUD), 360-degree camera, dashcam, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate with hands-free function, heated ORVMs and turn indicators, and more. For the safety equipment, the Palisade will feature a Level-2 ADAS safety suite, multiple airbags, and more.
Hyundai Palisade: Engine and Transmission
The Hyundai Palisade debuts Hyundai’s next-gen hybrid powertrain. This powertrain consists of a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine connected to an electric motor. The combined output of this powertrain is 334 HP and 460 Nm, and it can deliver a maximum fuel efficiency of 14.1 km/l and a total driving range of 1,015 km.
Hyundai claims this hybrid system delivers a 45 percent improved efficiency, 19 percent more power, and 9 percent more torque, compared to a regular 2.5-litre petrol engine. Moreover, for this hybrid setup, Hyundai has developed some EV-specific features, including vehicle-to-load (V2L) and regenerative braking capabilities. A special feature is the ‘Stay Mode’, which allows the air-conditioning and infotainment functions for up to one hour even with the engine off, given the battery has 70-80 percent charge.
Internationally, the Hyundai Palisade is available with a front-wheel drive layout and a 6-speed automatic transmission, and there is an optional all-wheel-drive system. The Korean SUV offers three drive modes – Eco, Sport, and My Drive – and three terrain modes: Mud, Snow, and Sand.
Hyundai Palisade: Price and Launch
The Korean carmaker is going to launch the Hyundai Palisade in India by 2028. As Hyundai is looking to localise the production of the Palisade, it is expected to be priced at around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). With such a price, the Hyundai Palisade will be a formidable challenger to the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian.
