Tata Motors has recently launched the 2026 Tata Punch facelift. It is the first major update of the Punch, which was launched in 2021 and has turned out be a grand success, with over 7 lakh units sold. The new Punch has arrived with cosmetic updates and a new turbocharged petrol engine. Here is a comparison of the new Tata Punch and the old Tata Punch to know how different the new model is from the old one.

While the new Tata Punch is 49 mm longer than its predecessor, the rest of the dimensions are the same. In terms of cabin space, the new Punch is as spacious as the old Punch.

While the overall design of the new Punch is the same as the old one, the front end has seen the most updates. The new Punch gets vertically stacked block-like headlamps, while the old model had larger hexagonal headlamps. As with the old model, the headlamps are placed on the bumper, while the slim, eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs are on the edges of the redesigned blacked-out grille. Lower down on the bumper, the tri-arrow pattern on the air dam has been replaced by blacked-out horizontal slats with a silver surround. On the side, except for the redesigned 16-inch alloy wheels, all design elements are the same as before, including the chunky black cladding that covers the SUV’s bottom. At the rear, triple-stripe shaped tail lamps replace the tri-arrow shaped ones, and now the tail lamps are connected by a light bar. Other updates on the rear include the addition of a faux skid plate and a lower position for the rear camera.

The new Tata Punch is nearly as large as the old Tata Punch, and the space inside the cabin is also the same as before.

The old Tata Punch was powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which was also offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit. While this engine easily meets your daily driving needs, according to consumer feedback, it feels underpowered, especially considering the rivals’ engines. To address this concern, with the Tata Punch facelift, Tata has added a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine to its powertrains. This turbocharged engine also powers the larger Tata Nexon, which has found commendable success. With the turbocharged petrol engine, the Punch feels more powerful on the go, and you do not feel short on power when you need a quick overtake.
The old Tata Punch CNG variants were available with a manual transmission only, while the new Tata Punch CNG variants are available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
The new Tata Punch continues all the powertrain options of the old Tata Punch. However, the new Tata Punch also offers a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and an AMT with CNG variants, which were previously offered with a manual transmission only.
