MG Motor has recently given the MG Hector its second mid-life facelift. In addition to some design changes, the new Hector carries some technological updates. While the new Hector is not too different from the previous model, in this article, we explore every change that the facelift has brought.

As mentioned, the new Hector is not too different from the old Hector and the same is apparent in their designs. The new MG Hector is marginally longer than the old MG Hector, however, the rest of the dimensions are the same. This means the new Hector is as spacious as the old one and ample space for all passengers will continue to remain one of the key advantages of the Hector.

As far design is concerned, the new Hector looks nearly identical to the old Hector, however, there are some differences at the front to keep them distinguishable from each other. Like the old Hector, the new Hector features a large imposing chrome grille at the front, however, the new Hector has a honeycomb pattern for the grille that looks quite different from the diamond pattern on the older model. Meanwhile, the sleek LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and twin-pod LED headlights are the same as on the old Hector, though the bumper and air dam have been redesigned.
The new MG Hector is as spacious as the old MG Hector, and on the design front, except for the new pattern for the grille and new design for air dam and front bumper, the new Hector looks the same as the old Hector.

As of now, the new MG Hector is offered with the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine which was offered with the old MG Hector. The new Hector will also be offered with the same 2-litre turbo diesel engine, but the diesel variants will launch in 2026. Like the engine options, transmission options will remain the same.

Much like the exterior, everything on the inside is the same as the old model. Like the old Hector, the new Hector carries a layered dashboard design, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and a 14-inch touchscreen portrait-oriented infotainment system. However, MG has introduced two new interior themes: dual tone grey and black for the 5-seater Hector and tan and black for the 3-row Hector Plus.

In terms of features, the new Hector offers the same package as the old Hector. Its feature list includes, the large touchscreen infotainment, Infinity sound system, powered and ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, and more. All the same, MG has updated the touchscreen infotainment on the software level and introduced its iSwipe touch gesture control technology that allows the front passengers to adjust climate using two fingers and audio with three.
In addition to adding two new interior themes, dual tone grey and black for the 5-seater Hector and tan and black for the 3-row Hector Plus, MG has added a new feature, iSwipe touch gesture control.

In safety equipment, there has been no addition and the new MG Hector carries the safety equipment of the old MG Hector. This safety equipment includes 6 airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera with a blind-spot monitor, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, an electronic parking brake, disc brakes on all wheels, and a Level 2 ADAS suite.

The new MG Hector is at least Rs 1.55 lakh more affordable than the old MG Hector and the new MG Hector plus is at least Rs 1.63 lakh more affordable than the old MG Hector plus. Since there have been no cost cutting measures to bring the ex-showroom prices down, the new Hector offers more value for money than the old Hector. Possibly, MG utilised their partnership with JSW well to save on the manufacturing cost and the carmaker has cut the cost of the SUV to boost its sales.
