Tata Motors Launches the Updated Tiago EV

Tata Motors launched the 2026 Tata Tiago EV in India recently, which starts at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated electric hatchback receives a slightly revised exterior design, an all-new cabin with more features and improved safety equipment, while retaining the existing battery options from before.

The Tiago EV still retails among the cheapest electric cars in India and now looks more modern, along with being packed with features.

What’s New in the 2026 Tata Tiago EV?

Styling changes for the updated Tiago EV are visible, inspired by Tata’s newer EV models.

Exterior Updates

Changes to the front design were also made, including a simplified EV-oriented appearance. The bumper design is new, and the connected-style LED tail lamp treatment at the rear makes the hatchback look more premium. Tata has also provided new alloy wheel designs and updated colour options.

Some of the new colour options include:

  • Matheran Monsoon
  • Pangong Pulse
  • Dehradun Dew
  • Sobo Surge
  • Pristine White
  • Pure Grey

New Cabin and Features

Inside, the 2026 Tata Tiago EV features an updated interior with a more premium-looking dashboard layout. The interior has been upgraded with a new floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as a redesigned digital instrument cluster, giving the hatchback a more modern look and feel. There is also a new steering wheel and updated centre console layout influenced by newer Tata cars.

The updated Tiago EV gets new features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, push-button start, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, as well as rear AC vents and auto-folding ORVMs. While Tata Motors has included some new technology and features in the car, important functions such as climate control still use physical controls, which should help in day-to-day usability by drivers.

Battery Pack and Range

Tata Motors has retained the same battery pack options in the new Tiago EV.

The Tiago EV continues with DC fast charging support, and Tata claims that fast charging can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in under an hour.

Safety Features

Tata Motors has enhanced the 2026 Tiago EV’s safety package by making several significant features standard across the range. The hatchback is now also equipped with 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Hold Control, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). These additions enhance the overall safety for passengers and bring about making the Tiago-EV a more rounded option in the Indian affordable electric car market.

Lifetime Battery Warranty Introduced

The introduction of a lifetime battery warranty on select variants for the first owner is one of the major highlights of the 2026 Tata Tiago EV. This move, Tata Motors believes, would help to increase the buyers’ confidence in EV ownership and remove the fears around battery degradation over the long term and replacement costs.

This warranty could be the one major point of differentiation that the Tiago EV gets, especially considering it is an affordable EV and attracting first-time EV buyers who might have concerns about battery longevity and maintenance costs. Along with lower running costs and reduced maintenance compared to petrol-powered cars, the lifetime battery warranty further strengthens the overall value proposition of the Tiago EV.

Final Thoughts

The update that Tata has given to the Tiago is quite important and revitalising at the same time, without disturbing its fundamental strengths. With all the updates, the Tiago EV is still a viable player in the affordable vehicle market, where it competes against the MG Comet, Tata Punch EV and Citroen eC3.

Tata Motors is clearly determined to make EV ownership hassle-free for Indian buyers while still bringing some good value in the surging Indian EV market, starting from Rs 6.99 lakh & with a lifetime battery warranty.
