Spotted having a test run on Indian roads without any camouflage, the Toyota RAV4 seems like it is set to arrive in  India. Going by last year\u2019s news reports, Toyota Kirloskar Motors did mention bringing the mid-size SUV to India in 2021. However, the RAV4 will be imported as a completely built-up unit and as per reports, only 2500 of them will be available in India. The price of the new Toyota SUV will be on the higher side, with the RAV4 costing somewhere around \u20b950-\u20b960 lakhs, which might not go down well with premium buyers. <\/p>\n\n\n

The first question that comes to mind is the name, what do those three letters mean? To help you out, RAV is short for Robust Accurate Vehicle and the number four tells us that it is a four-wheel drive SUV. So, with that cleared, the RAV4 is a popular family SUV across North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific. According to Toyota, RAV4 was designed for the consumer wanting all the features of an SUV with the fuel economy of a car. The mid-range Toyota RAV4 will compete with the likes of Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, and Volkswagen Tiguan in terms of price and market position. <\/p>\n\n\n

\n\nMentioned earlier, Toyota RAV4 will be imported to India as a CBU which mainly might be due to Toyota testing the waters before going all in, however, the price would be an issue with potential buyers. The import duty plus taxes will hike the price of RAV4 significantly more than its original price in international markets. A price tag of \u20b950-\u20b960 lakhs can push buyers to look towards more affordable cars or premium players like Mercedes, Audi, and BMW. \n\n<\/p>\n\n\n
