Aimed at reducing the cost of electric vehicles and controlling pollution, the scheme provides various benefits to buyers. The government of Haryana provides concessions on the purchase of electric vehicles in Gurugram, Badshahpur, and several other places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"key-highlights-of-the-policy\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Highlights of the Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>100% Tax Exemption for Mass-Market EVs:<\/strong> New battery-operated electric vehicles with an ex-showroom price up to Rs 30 lakh will be exempt from paying motor vehicle tax at the time of registration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>50% Tax Relief for Premium EVs:<\/strong> For electric vehicles with a price tag of over Rs 30 lakh ex-showroom, the motor vehicle tax will be discounted by 50%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Broad Vehicle Coverage: The tax waiver will apply to a wide range of vehicles including two-wheelers (scooters), three-wheelers (auto, e-rickshaws) and four-wheelers (cars and SUVs) powered by electricity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strict In-State Requirement:<\/strong> The tax benefits will be applicable only for vehicles purchased and registered within Haryana. Electric vehicles bought from other states will be ineligible for tax exemptions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Local administration officials noted that the policy aims to make green mobility more accessible while delivering direct, upfront savings to buyers during registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"phased-restrictions-on-nonev-light-goods-vehicles\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phased Restrictions on Non-EV Light Goods Vehicles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside the registration tax incentives for private and commercial EVs, regional environmental authorities have outlined a phased transition to phase out fossil-fuel-based Light Goods Vehicles (LGVs under 3,500 kg):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Delhi:<\/strong> Registration of new petrol, diesel, and CNG Light Goods Vehicles will be completely restricted starting <strong>January 1, 2027<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>NCR Districts:<\/strong> The ban on registering new non-EV Light Goods Vehicles will expand to major NCR districts including Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddha Nagar from <strong>July 1, 2027<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While light commercial goods vehicles make up a small portion of the active traffic fleet, authorities cited their disproportionately high particulate emissions as the driving force behind the mandating of electric commercial transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spinny.com\/blog\/how-do-electric-cars-work\/\">How do Electric Cars Work?<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Haryana government has initiated the registration of electric vehicles under a newly introduced tax exemption scheme.
