Skoda has unveiled the fourth-generation Skoda Superb in India ahead of its expected 2027 launch. The Czech carmaker will bring the Superb\u2019s top variant, the Laurin & Klement (L&K) TDI, as completely built units (CBUs). Moreover, the re-entry of the diesel-powered Skoda Superb will mark the return of a Skoda diesel to India after 6 years, as the diesel engine was last offered by the brand in 2020, before the rollout of BS6 norms. The new Skoda Superb is 4,912 mm long, 1,849 mm wide, 1,511 mm tall, and has a 2,841 mm wheelbase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always, the Skoda Superb is designed to look like an elegant executive sedan. Up front, it gets a traditional Skoda\u2019s butterfly grille with chrome slats and a chrome surround. The front bumper gets a latticed air dam underlined by a chrome bar that extends to functional air ducts on either side. Moreover, the Czech premium sedan features Matrix LED projector headlamps with cornering function and LED DRLs with welcome and goodbye animations. In profile, the sedan gets a low roofline, 18-inch silver alloy wheels, chrome-finished window surrounds, and a \u2018Laurin & Klement\u2019 badge on the front fenders. At the rear, the Superb features wraparound LED tail lamps with the same welcome animations as the front DRLs, a minimalist bumper, silver accents on the bumper, and the \u2018SKODA\u2019 wordmark on the tailgate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, the Skoda Superb gets a dual-tone Cognac-and-Black cabin theme. Inspired by the Skoda Kodiaq\u2019s dashboard, the Superb\u2019s dashboard has a swooping design, a free-standing 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel. Other Kodiaq-like elements include rotary dials to operate AC, ventilated seats, and audio controls. The gear selector is placed on the steering column, freeing up space on the centre console, which has a wireless charger and concealed storage. Moreover, there are dedicated AC vents and two USB Type-C charging ports for rear passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of features, the Skoda Superb packs three-zone climate control, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 14-speaker Canton sound system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, a powered tailgate, and powered, ventilated, massaging and heated front seats. In addition, the Superb comes with a \u2018Sleep Package\u2019 that includes adjustable headrests for the rear outboard seats and two blankets for added comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Superb\u2019s safety kit consists of 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, a Level-2 ADAS safety suite, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, all-wheel disc brakes, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, and automatic parking assistance. Moreover, the sedan has scored a 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skoda Superb: Engine & Transmission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Skoda Superb is powered by a 2-litre turbo diesel engine producing 150 PS and 360 Nm of peak torque. This engine sends power to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG automatic. With this powertrain, the Superb is claimed to do a 0 to 100 km\/hr sprint in 9.2 seconds, with an electronically limited speed of up to 225 km\/hr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The India-spec Skoda will have Progressive Dynamic Steering and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) to automatically adjust the handling balance based on driving speed, road conditions and selected driving mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skoda Superb: Price & Rivals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As a CBU, the Skoda Superb is expected to cost Rs. 55 \u2013 60 lakh. However, the India-EU Free Trade Agreement is set to enter into force in 2027, which could make the Czech sedan more affordable.
