The German automaker has revealed the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, announcing its re-entry into the premium 7-seater SUV segment, after the discontinuation of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace in 2021. To be slotted above the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will be Volkswagen\u2019s flagship car in India. A key point to note is that while its smaller sibling, Tiguan R-Line, is imported as a completely built unit, the Tayron R-Line will be locally assembled. Here is all you need to know about the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line.<\/p>\n\n\n

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Dimensions and Design<\/h2>\n\n\n

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line measures 4,792 mm long, 1,866 mm wide, and 1,665 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,789 mm. The German 7-seater premium SUV offers the boot space of 345 litres (with all rows up) and 850 litres (with the third row tumbled down).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is 235 mm longer, 7 mm wider, 9 mm taller, and has a 109 mm longer wheelbase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is based on the same MQB EVO platform, which underpins the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line 5-seater SUV, but it is larger to accommodate an extra row. At the front, the Tayron R-Line looks much like the Tiguan R-Line. For example, like the Tiguan R-Line, an LED light bar that runs over the grille section connects the LED DRLs to form a full-width LED strip. The gloss black front bumper has a latticed pattern, which covers the air dam. Over to the side, the Tayron R-Line features 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels \u2013 like those on the Tiguan R-Line, and like the front end, the design is pretty much the same as the Tiguan R-Line, though the elongated proportions are because of the third row. The slim gloss black cladding covers the bottom of the SUV, and a slim silver trim, which starts from the bottom of the A-pillar, runs over the top of the windows, and broadens at the D-pillar, adds nice brightwork to the side profile. At the rather upright rear, like the front end, the bumper is finished in gloss black with a latticed pattern, while the tail lamps have large pixel-like elements and are connected by a light bar.<\/p>\n\n\n

On the inside, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is nearly the same as the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line and gets an all-black interior theme with blue stitching on seats and the dashboard. Like the Tiguan R-Line, there is pixelated ambient lighting on a gloss black panel on the dashboard, the touchscreen is angled towards the driver’s seat, and the flat-bottom steering wheel has three spokes. However, unique to the Tayron R-Line is the silver trim that spans the width of the dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of features, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line offers a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, two wireless phone chargers, 3-zone climate control with rear vents, 30-colour ambient lighting, 12-way powered front seats with heating, massage, and memory functions, an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, an augmented reality (AR)-based head-up display (HUD), a powered tailgate, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For safety equipment, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line offers nine airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, electronic stability control, hill start control, TPMS, hill descent control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, an electronic parking brake, a Level-2 ADAS safety suite, and more. Notably, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line SUV achieved a 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety test in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Engine and Transmission<\/h2>\n\n\n

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is powered by the same 2-litre turbo petrol engine, which also powers the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line. This engine produces 204 PS power and 320 Nm peak torque, and comes paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic with an all-wheel-drive system. Moreover, Volkswagen has equipped the Tayron with adaptive dampers so that you can make the suspension stiffer or softer based on your preference.<\/p>\n\n\n

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Price, Launch, and Rivals<\/h2>\n\n\n
