A vehicle that has been registered with the BH series can maintain its registration in the event of interstate travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a significant distinction for applicants from Telangana in that the applicants are eligible under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules but still may have to contend with local procedures for completing the registration process. The ambiguity is related to either acquiring a new BH registration or converting the current registration in Telangana via the local authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is-a-bh-number-plate\">What Is a BH Number Plate?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021, the Bharat series was rolled out to make vehicle ownership easier for those who are likely to be relocated from one state to another. Typically, the normal registration process involves reassignment of a registration mark when a vehicle is retained in another state for 12 months. The procedure may also necessitate the issuance of a No Objection Certificate, payment of road tax in the new state, and refund requests in an individual&#8217;s former state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once transferred to a different place, the owner of a BH plate vehicle can keep the same number plate. It is mainly meant for defence personnel, government officials, and many eligible private sector employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BH registration is voluntary. An eligible buyer may still choose a regular Telangana registration, particularly when the vehicle is expected to remain in the state for most of its ownership period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"bh-number-plate-format\">BH Number Plate Format<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A BH registration follows this format:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>YY BH #### XX<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>YY:<\/strong> Last two digits of the vehicle\u2019s registration year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>BH:<\/strong> Bharat Series code<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>####:<\/strong> A number between 0001 and 9999<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>XX:<\/strong> Letters generated as part of the registration sequence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As an illustration, a vehicle registered in the year 2026 could have a plate number like 26 BH 4582 AB. The registration number is produced by means of an online portal. In essence, Form 16 should not be used as proof of eligibility for BH for a private employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is-form-60-for-bh-registration\">What Is Form 60 for BH Registration?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding BH registration, Form 60 is a Working Certificate issued and verified by a private sector employer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of this certificate is to indicate that the applicant is currently employed by the entity and has a presence in four or more states or Union Territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current BH-series Form 60 records details such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Name and registration number of the organisation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GST registration number, where applicable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organisation PAN<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registered or corporate office address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee ID<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee UAN<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee mobile number and email address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee PAN<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Name and contact details of the authorised signatory<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The signature or e-signature of the applicant as well as the authorised signatory of the organisation must be present in this form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BH-series Form 60 is different from Form 60 used in income tax for those who do not have PAN. It is also different from Form 16, which is a tax deduction certificate provided by the employer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-apply-for-a-new-bh-number-plate-in-telangana\">How to Apply for a New BH Number Plate in Telangana<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fresh BH registration for a new vehicle is normally handled through the authorised vehicle dealer rather than as a completely independent self-service application. MoRTH identifies dealer-point registration as the route used for new BH registrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-1-confirm-your-eligibility\">Step 1: Confirm Your Eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you decide to reserve any vehicle, check if your employment type is compliant with the central BH norms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Private sector employees must reach out to their HR, administration, or compliance department to find out whether their firm is present in at least four states or Union Territories and is entitled to issue the mandatory Form 60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-2-confirm-telangana-processing\">Step 2: Confirm Telangana Processing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to confirm with the dealership if the BH feature is accessible through the VAHAN dealer module for the corresponding RTA of Telangana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This may have to be verified before the preparation of the final bill and payment for the registration of the vehicle. In the state of Telangana, the amount of \u20b9600 has been imposed for the registration of light motor vehicles where the registration certificate is in the form of a smart card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-6-receive-the-bh-number\">Step 6: Receive the BH Number<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After the application is approved and the required payments are completed, the BH registration mark is generated. The central rates are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Invoice price excluding GST<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Base BH tax rate<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Below \u20b910 lakh<\/td><td>8%<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u20b910 lakh to \u20b920 lakh<\/td><td>10%<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Above \u20b920 lakh<\/td><td>12%<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The tax paid on diesel cars is 2% higher, and on electric cars is 2% lower than the current tax system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if the price of a diesel car is between \u20b910 lakh and \u20b920 lakh, the corresponding rate will be 12%; meanwhile, if the electric car price is above \u20b920 lakh, 10% tax will be applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-year BH tax is calculated using this formula:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Motor vehicle tax based on invoice price \u00d7 1.25 \u00d7 2 \u00f7 15<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The result is rounded to the next integer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-often-is-bh-road-tax-paid\">How Often Is BH Road Tax Paid?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>BH road tax is paid for two years or in multiples of two years. Another payment becomes due when the selected tax period ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the payment is overdue for more than seven days from the due date, a late fee of \u20b9100 will be applicable for each day. Starting from the fourteenth year after the vehicle was first registered, taxpayers will have to pay the taxes on a yearly basis. The annual amount will equal half of the bi-annual tax amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This structure reduces the tax collected at the time of purchase, but it does not guarantee that BH registration will cost less over the vehicle\u2019s complete ownership period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its main financial advantage is the lower upfront payment. It also avoids the process of paying road tax again in a new state and seeking a refund from the previous state after relocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"can-an-existing-tg-registration-be-converted-to-bh\">Can an Existing TG Registration Be Converted to BH?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Central rules allow an eligible owner of a regularly registered vehicle to apply for the assignment of a BH registration mark through <strong>Form 27A<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The application requires the existing registration certificate and one of the applicable eligibility documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Working Certificate in Form 60<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Official government identity card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Government service certificate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The existing registration must remain valid and must not have been suspended or cancelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case the car is taken under loan, lease, or hire-purchase, the documentation related to the financier might also be required. Form 27A has a part to check if the financier has given a No Objection Certificate for the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if a central conversion route is available, Telangana owners should first check with the registering authority to see whether it is processing Form 27A applications. Form 33 needs to be filed within thirty days in case the vehicle is located in a different state from the initial state of registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BH registration also does not remove other vehicle-owner responsibilities. Valid insurance, Pollution Under Control certification, traffic-rule compliance and timely BH tax payments remain necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"can-a-bh-registered-vehicle-be-sold\">Can a BH-Registered Vehicle Be Sold?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, a BH-registered vehicle can be transferred to another owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the buyer is also eligible for the BH series, the vehicle can continue under BH registration after the required ownership-transfer formalities are completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case of ineligibility of the buyer, the vehicle must be registered with a normal registration number by the regulating authority in the respective state or UT. The buyer would be liable to pay taxes on the vehicle, as per the relevant taxation framework in the state or UT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BH number is not given to the original owner permanently.
