This makes it the safest Maruti car in India and will add to the already solid demand for its latest model. It also shows Maruti is coming to grips with the increasing demand for safer cars as the Indo-Japanese carmaker voluntarily sent the latest Dzire to the Global NCAP for the crashworthiness test. Here is a closer look at the performance of the Maruti Dzire in the Global NCAP crashworthiness test.

New 2024 Maruti Dzire Standard Safety Features

The standard set of safety features of the new Maruti Dzire consists of six airbags, ESC, 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, ISOFIX mounts for the rear seats, and front seatbelt pretensioner and load limiter. The tested model has been manufactured in India for the domestic market.

New 2024 Maruti Dzire Adult Passenger Protection

For adult occupant protection, the new Maruti Dzire scored 31.24 points out of 34. The protection offered to the driver’s and the front passenger’s heads is reported to be good, the passenger’s chest area is adequate, and the driver’s chest area is marginal. The protection to both the driver’s and passenger’s knees is good and the footwell area has been rated stable. The bodyshell was also rated stable and capable of withstanding further loads. In the side impact test, the Dzire demonstrated good protection to the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. Whereas the side pole test showed good protection to the head, abdomen, and pelvis, but marginal protection for the chest.

Also Read: GNCAP Safety Ratings Explained

New 2024 Maruti Dzire Child Passenger Protection

For adult child occupant protection, the new Maruti Dzire scored 39.20 points out of 42, which earned it 4 out of 5 stars. The child seat for a 3-year-old infant, installed forward facing with the ISOFIX anchorages, has been found capable of preventing excessive forward movement during frontal impact, providing complete protection to the head and chest, but marginal protection to the neck. Whereas, the child seat for an 18-month-old infant, installed rearward facing successfully prevented head exposure during the frontal impact, offering full protection. In the side impact test, both 18-month-old and 3-year-old child restraint systems (CRS) showed full protection during the crash. All the same, the sedan doesn’t offer the facility to disconnect the front passenger airbag if a rearward-facing CRS is installed on the front passenger seat, and this made it lose some points.

Global NCAP’s Comment

The Executive President of the Towards Zero Foundation, David Ward officially stated, “The new Dzire’s five-star rating sets a significant safety benchmark for Maruti Suzuki compared to the previous version of this model and others from Maruti we have tested. Global NCAP warmly welcomes this milestone voluntary test result. We are optimistic that going forward Maruti will seek to achieve this high level of safety performance across their model range.
