The much-awaited Maruti Fronx is finally unveiled at Auto Expo 2023. The Maruti Fronx is Maruti Suzuki\u2019s first compact SUV coupe for its premium segment, Nexa, and is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno which is one of the best-selling cars in India. While the bookings for the Maruti Fronx have begun today, it will go on sale in April 2023 and rival the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and Tata Punch. Let\u2019s take a look at what the largest carmaker in India intends to serve through the Maruti Fronx.<\/p>\n\n\n

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Exterior<\/h2>\n\n\n

Based on the Baleno, the Maruti Fronx is underpinned by the Heartect monocoque platform. With 3,995 mm length, 1,765mm width, 1,550mm height, and the wheelbase of 2,520 mm, the Fronx almost matches the size of the Baleno<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The looks, especially the side profile of Fronx is quite similar to that of Baleno, like the rising waistline that has a prominent hunch over the rear wheels and the roofline that dips towards the tailgate. However, the front fascia sports a more upright nose, NEXwave grille with a chrome bar, and a triple-cubes, LED DRLs set-up, which largely cues the Maruti Grand Vitara. Lower down, the triple-cubes headlamps lamps with triangular housing look like the ones on the Tata Harrier. The front, as well as rear bumper, are chunkier and the faux skid plates with a little bit of chrome treatment bring about the muscular appeal. The rear also highlights the sleek tail lamps connected by an LED light bar.<\/p>\n\n\n

The insides are also considerably similar to that of Baleno for example, dual-tone layered dashboard with AC vents at both ends. However, both cars differ in the textures of the insides, their shades, among other bits. The feature list is also quite similar to that of Baleno, as the Fronx sports a head-up display, 360-degree camera, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and other upmarket features. On the safety front, the Maruti Fronx comes equipped with up to six airbags, hill-hold assist, roll-over mitigation, ABS with EBD, and other safety features.<\/p>\n\n\n

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Engine and Transmission<\/h2>\n\n\n

On the mechanical front, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is equipped with two engines. One is Maruti Suzuki\u2019s first and only turbo-petrol engine, the 1.0-litre Boosterjet which made its debut in the previous-gen Baleno in India in 2017. In the Maruti Fronx, the engine produces 100 hp of power and 147.6Nm of peak torque and is paired to a five-speed manual or an optional six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox (with paddle shifters). The other engine is 1.2-litre K-series naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 90hp of power and 130 Nm of peak torque.
