Jeep has launched its flagship SUV, the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee in India at an introductory price of Rs 77.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is being locally assembled, and India is the first market where the Grand Cherokee is being assembled outside of North America. 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Price and Rivals<\/h2>\n\n\n

In India the Jeep Grand Cherokee will be available in a 5-seater layout and the introductory price of Rs. 77.5 lakh will make it contend with Jaguar F-Pace, Volvo XC90, Range Rover Velar, Mercedes Benz GLE, Audi Q7, and BMW X5. Among all these, only Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7 are 7-seaters, and the rest are 5-seaters.<\/p>\n\n\n

By the looks of it, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee dons Jeep\u2019s traditional design language and cues of the larger Grand Wagoneer sold abroad. The front facia spells \u2018Jeep\u2019 outright with the traditional 7-slat grille flanked by sleek LED headlamps. The wide side and central air intakes in the bumper add to the butch appeal. On the side, there is a prominent belt line running from the headlamps to taillamps, the squared wheel arches housing 20-inch alloy wheels, and a blacked-out portion in the C-pillar giving a floating effect for the roof. At the rear, the slim LED tail lamps give a touch of sophistication and there is a prominent number plate housing on the tailgate and a chunky rear bumper.<\/p>\n\n\n

Like most luxury cars, multiple screens are a key highlight of the Grand Cherokee’s interior. The central 10.1-inch touchscreen is seamlessly integrated with the stack of HVAC controls below, which have retained physical buttons and dials. Additionally, there is a 10.1-inch screen in the dashboard specifically for the front passenger. The leatherette treatment, wood and gloss black inserts, and layered effect on the dashboard make it look and feel plush. The minimalist AC vents and the neat central console magnify the level of sophistication. In the feature department, Jeep has given everything to its flagship SUV, such as a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch head-up display, a wireless charging pad, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility, rear seat entertainment screens, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats and a powered tailgate, and others. The safety feature includes an ADAS safety suite, 360-degree camera, driver’s drowsiness detection, 3 Point seat belt and occupant detection for all passengers, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Powertrains<\/h2>\n\n\n

Unlike the fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee that was offered with both petrol and diesel engine, the new Grand Cherokee model is available with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine option. This engine produces 272hp of power and 400 Nm of peak torque and comes coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
