The German Carmaker, Volkswagen, has begun releasing teasers of its upcoming SUV, Volkswagen Tayron, suggesting that its launch could be around the corner. The Volkswagen Tayron will be brought to India and CKD units, and assembled in the Volkswagen plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Here is what we know so far about the Volkswagen Tayron.
Volkswagen Tayron: Design
The Tayron is based on VW’s MQB EVO platform, which also underpins the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Skoda Kodiaq. This is why the Tayron will look a lot like the Tiguan. The first teaser shows a Tayron shrouded in a white veil, wherein its front lights are partially on. It shows that there is a full-width LED strip connecting the headlamps, while the Volkswagen badge is illuminated. At the rear, the connected taillights have a svelte design, with a slim LED strip and illuminated Volkswagen logo, just like the front. The global-spec Volkswagen Tayron sports 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, but the Indian-spec model is expected to be equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, like those on the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line.
Volkswagen Tayron: Features
In terms of features, the Volkswagen Tayron is expected to offer a 3-spoke steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, a large central touchscreen, multi-zone automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, and others.
Volkswagen Tayron: Engine and Transmission
The Volkswagen Tayron is expected to share its powertrain with the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line. Therefore, it is likely to be powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic), and it could also be offered with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.
Volkswagen Tayron: Price and Launch
The Volkswagen Tayron is expected to be launched in the first half of 2026 and priced at Rs 45 to 50 lakh.
