The Citroen C5 Aircross on the other hand is the youngest SUV and was launched in March 2021. VW Tiguan Allspace was launched in 2020 while the American Jeep Compass was launched in 2017 and has been able to make its mark in the Indian SUV space.

The Jeep Compass is the smallest of the premium SUVs and does fall behind the other competitors.

Boot space is where the comparison becomes interesting. As a 7 seater, the Tiguan Allspace has the added advantage of expanding its 340 litre boot space to 700 litres without the third row. The VW Tiguan Allspace with its 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine stands out when it comes to a robust engine and an equally robust output. The Jeep Compass with its 1.4 litre petrol engine  has an output that surpasses Hyundai Tucson’s mighty 2.0 litre petrol engine. The Citroen C5 Aircross on the other hand doesn’t have a petrol variant, hence doesn’t compete in the category.

We would like to think that with such powerful engines mileage would take a backseat, however, for their output and size, the engines of these premium SUVs are fairly efficient. With a smaller engine, the Jeep Compass offers the best mileage among the three SUVs, with the Hyundai Tucson a close second. Choose the VW Tiguan only if power is your only consideration. Another crucial aspect is transmission, only the Jeep Compass offers manual transmission, the other two come in auto transmission only.

The Jeep Compass comes in third with  the least power and torque of the two takes the third place. However, the Compass offers more choice with both a manual and automatic transmission while the Citroen and Hyundai only come with automatic gearboxes.
