However, rapid growth has also led to a rise in traffic and associated traffic violations in Chandigarh. The 2019 Motor Vehicle Act outlined new rules about licenses, permits, vehicle fitness standards, and rigid fines for traffic offences. The traffic e-challan system was introduced in Chandigarh to curb traffic violations and penalize offenders in a systematic and transparent way.

E-challan in Chandigarh can be paid online on the government website as well as via the Chandigarh Traffic Police website. The method of paying the traffic challan is quick and simple. How to Pay Chandigarh Traffic E-Challan Online

  • Step 2: Click on the option ‘Services’.
  • Step 3: Click on the option ‘Online Payment of Challan’ from the dropdown menu
  • Step 4: You will be directed to another page. Scroll down and under the option ‘Proceed to Online Payment of Postal Challan’, click on ‘Online Payment Gateway’
  • Step 5: You will be directed to the Parivahan website
  • Step 6: Enter the Challan number or Vehicle number or Driving License number
  • Step 7: Enter the ‘Captcha’ code and click on ‘Get Detail’
  • Step 8: Once the detail is displayed, select the ‘Pay Now’ 
  • Step 9: Another page will open to verify the driving license.
  • Step 10: Enter the valid DL number, D.O.B and valid mobile number. Click on ‘Send OTP’
  • Step 11: An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and Click on ‘OK’.
  • Step 12: The page will be redirected to ‘e-Vahan’ portal. 
  • Step 13: Select ‘e-Sampark’ option from the dropdown menu under ‘Select Payment Gateway’ and click on ‘Terms & Conditions’ tab
  • Step 14: Choose the payment option and proceed to pay.
  • Step 15: Once the traffic challan payment is done, a transaction Id will be displayed to  verify the payment
  • Step 16: Revisit the parivahan app to verify and click on the ‘Verify’ tab
  • Step 17: A window will open showing ‘Payment Verification is in process. Please click on OK button’
  • Step 18: After verification is over, click on ‘Receipt’ to download or print the payment receipt of e-challan.

  • Step 1: Go to the Parivahan website or e-Challan website page 
  • Step 2: Click on ‘Online Services’ on the left-hand top of the page
  • Step 3: Click on the ‘Check Challan Status’ from the drop-down
  • Step 4: Next, enter the ‘Challan Number’ or ‘Vehicle Number’ or ‘Driver License Number’, enter the captcha shown and click on ‘Get Details’
E-challan payment
  • Step 5: Check the Status and click on the ‘Pay Now’ button
  • Step 6: Select the mode of payment and pay the penalty amount
  • Step 7: Once the payment is done, the user will receive a transaction ID via SMS
