Spinny Assured Mahindra TUV300 front

In terms of design, the TUV300 is one of the most polarizing machines on offer today. People will either love it or hate it. There’s no middle ground. The front end looks quite similar to the designs rolled out by Jeep, largely because of the meaty 5-slat front grille. Complimenting the boxy aesthetic, the box shaped fog lamps are like an introduction to the boxy side profile that is marked by a windshield that isn’t very sharply raked.

There are black side claddings and wing mirrors that add on to the TUV’s looks. There’s no denial that the TUV300 isn’t a long SUV, but what will quite surprise the onlookers are the height and width. The stout and tall design gives this vehicle a fairly good road presence that towers over other compact SUVs. The 15-inch wheels are chunky and fill out the squared-off wheel arches well. The TUV300 also features steps for easier ingress to the car.

The understated design of the front is carried forward all the way to the rear with a majority focus placed on the huge spare wheel mounted on the tailgate. The spare wheel gets an X-shaped spare wheel cover and is cleverly positioned to add up to the SUV looks. The rear window is also large, adding to the large glass house of the TUV300 to improve the interior ambience. For added underbody protection, the TUV300 features a plastic underbody covering to tackle any soft-roading challenges.

Exterior Key Highlights

  • 15-inch alloy wheels
  • Boxy design

The cabin of the TUV300 has a higher stance, and getting inside is made easy thanks to the sturdy side steps that are handy. Once inside, you’ll be welcomed by a bright and roomy feel, thanks to the large glass area. The frontal layout is surprisingly friendly, while the beige and brown upholstery gives it a premium feel. Dominating the centre is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with a simple layout and is easy to use. The screen doubles up as a reverse parking display which performs really well even in the dark. Coming to the driving position, it is probably one of the best in the segment and offers ample amount of lumbar support while driving. Also, the monochrome MID display is effortless to read and gives out all the necessary information.

Spinny Assured Mahindra TUV300 front seats

In terms of space, the front seats offer great legroom for the driver as well as the passenger. This is quite expected since the vehicle is essentially a compact SUV with a third row layout. The boot space is where the two jump seats are placed, which eats into the overall boot space of the TUV300. The feature list further brings features like storage space below the driver’s seat, driver and co-driver armrest, follow-me-home headlamps and electric mirrors on board. The power window switches are on the centre and not on the doors, which will require some adjustment. The quality of materials is above average for a car of this class and there is a sense of durability to all the materials around.

Second-row space is very generous, as the headroom offered is superb and so is the legroom. The seats are wide and are not contoured. This means that you can easily fit three quite comfortably. However, the seat base is too generous and shorter people will find themselves stretching their legs to get comfortable. The last row comes with jump seats, which are practically usable for small journeys and only meant for small adults or children.

Interiors Key Highlights

  • Spacious interiors
  • 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Boot space of 384 litres
  • High seating position
  • Beige leather interiors
