Launched back in 2015, Hyundai’s all-rounder SUV has managed to create an unwatchable hype in the market. From being amongst India’s top 5 best-selling SUVs to crossing the 5.5 lakh unit sales mark, the Hyundai Creta has done it all. But with great popularity, comes great expectations. And who better will understand this than Hyundai Motors. Afterall its India’s second-largest car manufacturer for a reason. Responding to the growing popularity and consumer expectations from the Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Motors India Limited is all set to launch the next-gen Hyundai Creta 2020. And talking about the buzz, the next-gen Hyundai Creta has already managed to cross the 10,000 booking mark even before being launched.

Revamped Exteriors

On the front end, the true-blue SUV characterized by a 3-dimensional Cascading Grille with muscle like vertical and horizontal patterns. Borrowing design cues from the international ix25 SUV, the next-gen Hyundai Creta supports the all-new trio-beam LED headlamps with crescent glow DRLs shaped as an inversed C. The front bumpers have also been updated with beautifully detailed crease lines, central air intake opening, a new set of fog lamps and silver scuff plates.

In terms of the side profile, the next-gen Hyundai Creta integrates silver shading on top of the windows which stretches all the way to the C-pillar. Character lines are added in places such as over the all-new flared wheel to give the next-gen Hyundai Creta a masculine stance. The new Creta also comes with Hyundai’s newly designed alloys.

Coming to the rear, changes such as revised LED tail lights, twin-tip exhaust system, integrated roof rails, rear spoilers, give the new Creta a modern appeal. Also, there is a thin LED strip just below the boot. The overall designing of the all-new Hyundai Creta surely makes it a Head-Turner. Retaining the overall silhouette of the earlier version, the next-gen Hyundai Creta has still managed to bring a lot of futuristic design elements to the table. And with Hyundai’s mantra of “Sensuous Sportiness”, the next-gen Hyundai Creta will surely outdo its earlier counterpart.

If you think that the next-gen Hyundai Creta is only about a new exterior. Think again! The next-gen Hyundai Creta is all about a futuristic appeal from head to toe. In terms of overall dash design, Hyundai has chosen to give the next-gen Hyundai Creta a two-tone interior with a redesigned layout for the dash and center console. Inside the cabin, one of the most noticeable changes is Hyundai’s all-new flat-bottom steering wheel and a larger touchscreen infotainment system. In contrast to the 7-inch infotainment offered in the earlier version, the next-gen Hyundai Creta 2020 now offers a huge 10-inch infotainment system with e-sim connectivity for your entire connected car tech. The MID is also upgraded and now includes a 7-inch display surrounded by analogue meters on both ends. But that’s not all for the 2020 Hyundai Creta.

Below the 10-inch infotainment system lies features such as, multiple charging ports, wireless phone charger, drive mode selector and the electronic parking brake button. Hyundai has also included an auto air purifier, similar to the Kia Seltos. Amongst other futuristic inclusions, the new Hyundai Creta will now come with a voice-controlled panoramic sunroof, cooled glove box, tire pressure monitoring system, rear window sunshade, LED reading lamps, 2-step rear seat reclining and much more.

In terms of what is retained, features such as ventilated seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, electric ORVMS, rear hand rests, bottle holders, cruise control, smart-key band etc. are continued in the next-gen Hyundai Creta.

Upgraded Performance

Talking about performance, the earlier version of the Hyundai Creta did exceptionally well with its 1.4 and 1.6-litre engine options. However, the next-gen Hyundai Creta delivers much more with three BS6 compliant engine choices and multiple gearbox choices.

The 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine is with either a 6-speed Manual or IVT (intelligent variable transmission) gearbox and delivers 115PS of maximum power and 144Nm of maximum torque.

The 1.5-litre U2 diesel engine is with both a 6-speed manual and Automatic Transmission delivering 115PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of maximum torque.

The 1.4-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol engine is with only a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission delivering 140PS of maximum power and 242Nm of maximum torque.

Additionally, the next-gen Hyundai Creta also gets three drive (Eco, Comfort and Sport) and traction control (Snow, Sand and Mud) modes.

In terms of mileage, the 1.5-litre petrol engine will return a 16.8kpl with the manual gearbox and 17.1kpl with CVT automatic. On the other hand, the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine with dual-clutch transmission will return somewhere around 16.8kmpl.

For the diesel variant, the AT transmission will return around 21.4kmpl while the manual will return an 18.3kmpl.

Enhanced Safety

As far as safety is concerned, the current generation of the Hyundai Creta offers ABS with EBD and dual airbags as standard. While the more advanced trims offer features such as 6 airbags, traction control and hill assist.

In addition to the safety features already supported by the 2019 Creta, we believe that the next-gen Hyundai Creta will be offered with advanced safety features such as hill descent control, hill-start assist and electronic stability control among many others.
